Game Story

SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) -- The names may change in the rivalry between the Sacramento Kings and Utah Jazz, but the results remain the same. Kings newcomers Anthony Peeler and Brad Miller made their marks in a 118-110 victory over the Jazz, who have lost six straight home games in the series. Peeler, signed as a free agent in the offseason to help offset the loss of Jimmy Jackson, scored 15 points, matching his total for the entire season. He had been buried on the bench behind Doug Christie and Bobby Jackson but finally emerged. "I knew what I was coming to when I signed here; I knew they already had a lot of weapons," said Peeler, who made 5-of-6 shots, including three 3-pointers. "But you've just got to be patient." Miller, who was courted by the Jazz as a free agent before landing in Sacramento, had 17 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists, his third straight double-double. "It was a real possibility," Miller said. "I was looking at here and weighing my options and Sacramento came in, and it's hard to pass up a chance to play for one of the top teams in the league year in and year out." Peja Stojakovic scored 30 points and fellow familiar face Mike Bibby added 18 for the Kings, who shot a blistering 58 percent (40-of-69) and never trailed. "We've got some guys who can stroke it on this team," said Miller, who made 5-of-7 shots. Sacramento has not lost at Utah in the regular season since April 19, 2000 - when Jeff Hornacek was still a member of the Jazz. Overall, Sacramento has won 11 of the last 13 meetings. Carlos Arroyo had 25 points and eight assists for the Jazz, who had won their first five games at the Delta Center. "It looked like we were a great deal intimidated and rightfully so because this is a great team (Kings) and they are very clever with how they play and they just pick you apart," Jazz coach Jerry Sloan said. Peeler scored 10 points in the second quarter, when the Kings ran their lead to 65-55. The Jazz closed to 86-82 as Andrei Kirilenko scored nine of his 22 points in the third quarter. But Sacramento surged again. Peeler made a 3-pointer for a 100-92 lead and added a jumper for a 105-94 bulge with 5:12 left. "It's awesome to be playing with a team of this caliber because everybody is so good and so relaxed," Peeler said. "There's nobody uptight, there's nobody trying to do too much. Everybody knows their role." The Kings survived a temper tantrum by Bobby Jackson, who was ejected for arguing with 4:24 to go. Bibby and Miller drilled jumpers for a 109-100 lead, and Peeler broke up a fast break with a steal. "We responded in the fourth quarter and pulled away again," said Kings coach Rick Adelman, whose club has won three in a row.
