Game Story

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- The first 15 minutes went quite well for the Chicago Bulls against the Sacramento Kings. The next nine belonged to reserve Sacramento guards Anthony Peeler and Bobby Jackson. Peeler and Jackson combined to score 20 points during an emphatic run to close the first half as the Kings cruised past the Bulls, 110-99, for their 14th consecutive regular-season home win. Sacramento, which improved to 7-0 at Arco Arena this season, including 2-0 on its season-high eight-game homestand, led by as many as 33 points early in the fourth quarter before Chicago made a late charge. Peeler had 12 of his 18 points and Jackson eight of his 16 in the final 8:45 of the second quarter for the Kings, who beat the Bulls for a ninth straight meeting. Sacramento has won five consecutive contests overall and six of seven. "I was just making sure that I was going straight up and everybody kept finding me," Peeler said. "It was just a good feeling to shoot in front of these fans in this arena." "(Peeler has) been playing well and one thing he can do, he can really stretch the defense," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "He's a great 3-pointer shooter and he's a much better defender than people give him credit for. Bobby and him are terrific - that whole second group, when they came in the second quarter, were very good. They turned the thing right back around for us." Peja Stojakovic had 21 points to lead six players in double figures for Sacramento, which trailed, 42-41, before Jackson nailed a 3-pointer 3:15 into the second quarter to give the Kings the lead for good. Peeler added three 3-pointers and Jackson a second shot from beyond the arc during the burst as Sacramento opened up a 69-49 advantage. "We had fun out there," Peeler said. "It was just like playground basketball." "They hit some shots with hands in their face, with people in their face, with feet in their face," said Bulls forward Tyson Chandler, who had 14 points. "And they were just hitting shots. There's really nothing you can do about that. They hit a lot of tough shots. I felt we did a decent job closing out. They're just shooters." Jamal Crawford scored 19 points off the bench and Eddy Curry added 18 for Chicago, which fell to 0-3 on a five-game road trip. The Bulls have lost five games in a row and six of seven. Chicago shot 52 percent (42-of-81) but allowed Sacramento to make 13 3-pointers, including a franchise-record 12 in the first half. "I thought our guys showed a lot of character at the end of the game," Bulls coach Bill Cartwright said. "They kept working, they kept fighting, and I'm pleased about how we performed. But obviously, our inability to get into those 3-point shots was just too much to overcome."
