Game StoryLOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Jason Kidd and the New Jersey Nets are having fun on the West Coast. Kidd scored 18 points and dished out 10 assists as the Nets posted a 102-96 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. New Jersey improved to 2-0 on a five-game Western Conference road trip after Tuesday's 93-70 rout at Seattle. The Nets finished with a season high for points and won for the fifth time in six road games. "The last two years we haven't been a good road team," Kidd said. "That's one of the things we're working on as a team." Kidd had four points and a pair of assists in a 14-4 third-quarter run that gave New Jersey the lead for good. Brian Scalabrine's 3-pointer with 2:29 left in the period capped the burst and gave New Jersey a 66-56 lead. Kerry Kittles scored eight of his 22 points in the quarter. Jason Collins provided an early boost for the Nets with 12 of his 14 points in the first half. Most of his production came as a result of penetration by Kidd, who had seven assists by halftime. "I felt great tonight," Kidd said. "We're starting to rely on each other more lately." The Nets took advantage of plentiful trips to the foul line, shooting 79 percent (34-of-43). They shot 86 percent (25-of-29) in the second half. "Obviously they were trying to manhandle us out there," New Jersey coach Byron Scott said. "We had to get a little physical ourselves." Los Angeles lost its season-high fifth straight. Corey Maggette scored 20 points and Quentin Richardson added 17. New Jersey started the game with frigid 30 percent (7-of-23) shooting in the first quarter as Los Angeles led by as many as eight before settling for a 25-19 advantage. The Nets ran off 14 straight points in the second quarter for a 47-39 halftime edge, limiting the Clippers to three baskets in the period. Los Angeles never got closer than five points in the fourth quarter. "They are a veteran team and it showed tonight," Richardson said. "We had a couple of lapses after we we were able to cut the lead to five or six." The Nets, who are 5-2 on the road, did not record their fifth road victory last season until December 28.
