Game StoryLOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Voshon Lenard scored 10 of his 26 points in a big first quarter that carried the Denver Nuggets to a 98-86 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. Andre Miller added 19 points in his first road game against his former team and rookie Carmelo Anthony chipped in 12 and 10 rebounds as Denver recorded its third straight win. Miller signed with the Nuggets over the summer after one season in Los Angeles. He had 13 points in the first meeting with the Clippers, a 104-102 overtime loss at Denver on November 7, but fared better in the rematch. "I just wanted to beat them," Miller said. "I enjoyed the environment here." Miller made 6-of-10 shots from the field and handed out seven assists, helping Denver extend the Clippers' losing streak to six games. "Now we're even," Miller said. The win proved costly, however, as Marcus Camby left in the first half with a strained groin. Corey Maggettte led Los Angeles with 22 points and Melvin Ely had a career-high 15. But the Clippers fell behind, 32-17, after the opening quarter and never recovered. Denver led 59-41 at halftime and had a 83-66 cushion after three quarters. "Denver really came out to play tonight," Ely said. "They were very physical. We need to continue to work and match the intensity." Clippers forward Chris Wilcox left in the second quarter with a strained groin and finished with four points. Ely played 34 minutes and engaged in some heated battles with the Nuggets' post players. He wrestled Nene to the ground with 35 seconds remaining, prompting a double-technical. Play was stopped momentarily, but no punches were thrown. The Nuggets snapped a six-game road losing streak against the Clippers. Denver had not beaten them away from home since April 15, 2000. "They are not the old Denver of the past," Ely said. "They came to play, and if you don't match their intensity you're going to lose." Los Angeles is beginning to look like the same old Clippers. After winning four of their first six games, it has dropped the first three on a five-game homestand.
