Game Story

SEATTLE (Ticker) -- Seattle SuperSonics rookie guard Luke Ridnour might look like a ball boy, but he showed the New York Knicks that he belongs on the court. Ridnour had season highs of 15 points, seven assists and five rebounds as the SuperSonics earned a 95-87 victory. A 22-year-old with a boyish mop of blond curls, Ridnour scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to help Seattle seal the victory. "We just had to make plays and our whole team just kind of came together," Ridnour said. "I'm just learning. Some games you get opportunities to make more happen, and some games you don't." Rashard Lewis helped to put away the game in the third quarter, making three big plays in a span of 28 seconds to quickly turn things in Seattle's favor. With 6:51 left, Lewis hit a 3-pointer, then stole the ball from Knicks forward Michael Doleac at the other end. The steal started a 3-on-1 break that Lewis finished with a dunk off a touch pass from Brent Barry to make it 61-50 and cap a decisive 13-4 run. Lewis scored 13 points and added had 13 rebounds with five assists. Vladimir Radmanovic led the Sonics with 21 points, shooting 5-of-6 from 3-point range. The Knicks made things moderately interesting down the stretch but never got any closer than 71-66 on Charlie Ward's jump shot with 10:36 left. In his second game back after missing nearly two years with a knee injury, forward Antonio McDyess made his first three baskets for the Knicks, scoring seven points with six rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench. "What I liked about the things he did tonight was that when he couldn't get the rebound, he kept the ball alive," Knicks coach Don Chaney said. "He batted it out and didn't let the other guy get it." Allan Houston scored 12 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter for the Knicks, who committed 23 turnovers leading to 34 points for the Sonics. "They did a good job defensively, but you just can't throw the ball away," Houston said. "We can't really shoot ourselves in the foot the way we did tonight." The Knicks have lost back-to-back games after winning four of five, while the Sonics have won consecutive games for the first time since November 11-12.
