Game StoryAUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- Ben Wallace showed the Miami Heat why he is one of the best low-post players in the NBA. Wallace scored 10 points, grabbed a season-high 21 rebounds and blocked six shots to lift the Detroit Pistons to a 87-73 victory over the Heat. "I was just trying to stay active tonight so I wanted to do a lot of helping," Wallace said. "I wanted to force my man to score. I wanted to come over and see if they were willing to pass the ball." Richard Hamilton scored 18 points and Mehmet Okur added 17, 12 rebounds and five blocks as Detroit won its fourth straight game. Detroit blocked 14 shots and held the Heat to 34 percent (31-of-92) shooting. Tayshaun Prince chipped in with two blocks and had his first career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. "Memo (Okur) set the tone," Wallace said. "He got going early and got the block party started. I'm just glad he let me get a few of them." Lamar Odom led Miami with 22 points and 14 rebounds but made just 11-of-31 shots. "My team was down and I kept trying to get to the rim," Odom said. "That's not my game. But I can take my man off the dribble and get to the rim. I just try to do it as many times as I can. I didn't take many jump shots, tried to be aggressive." Rookie Dwyane Wade and Rafer Alston scored 15 points apiece as Miami lost its fifth straight road game. Eddie Jones' 3-pointer cut Miami's deficit to 70-64 with 8:36 to go. But Detroit scored eight straight points to build a 78-64 cushion with 5:33 remaining. "We gave ourselves a chance, which shows the heart of this team, but it also shows the immaturity of the team as far as not doing it for 48 minutes," Heat center Brian Grant said. "If we play like that the first half, maybe we go down a couple points, or up a few, whereas now we're going down 18 and we're working our way back." Grant shot just 2-of-9 and finished with four points while Jones finished with nine on 3-of-17 shooting. Pistons center Elden Campbell missed the game to attend a family funeral but is expected to rejoin the team Saturday in Houston. Okur started in his absence. "Just like I say every time before the game, it doesn't matter, myself coming off the bench or as starter," Okur said. "I try to bring some energy for my teammates. I think I did well tonight and that's what I try to do every night."
