Game StoryLOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Paul Silas had such little faith in LeBron James that he sat the star rookie down the stretch. The rest of the Cleveland Cavaliers did not do much better. The Cavaliers suffered their 33rd straight road loss, a 90-80 setback to the Los Angeles Clippers, who got 25 points from Quentin Richardson and 22 from Corey Maggette. The Cavaliers' road losing streak is the third-longest in NBA history. James had eight assists and six rebounds but scored just four points on 2-of-13 shooting and was benched by Silas for the majority of the fourth quarter. "LeBron was struggling tonight," Silas said. "But he was in the game on the bench, cheering for the guys and whatnot. I like that. LeBron just wasn't playing very well. It was beyond his shooting. He's human." "No, I'm not upset," James said of sitting down the stretch. "There were other players playing better than me tonight. ... I was frustrated. But you just have to go out and compete every night. I have pressure from my teammates and coaches. When they are not satisfied with me is when I start showing what I can do." Rookie Chris Kaman chipped in 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Clippers, who have won back-to-back contests on the heels of a season-high six-game losing streak. "Kaman had another terrific night for us, with his intensity and presence in the paint by blocking three shots and changing many others," Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy said. "For a young guy, he rebounds so well in traffic and he gives us some really good offense at times. He bailed us out. There is no substitute for size and energy, and he has both." Cleveland, which has not won away from Gund Arena since January 12 at Seattle, blew a 13-point first-half lead but trailed just 80-79 after Zydrunas Ilgauskas made 1-of-2 free throws with 2:05 remaining. But Predrag Drobnjak answered with a jumper 18 seconds later and Ricky Davis committed a turnover on the ensuing possession. "If I could get out there and play for them (at the end of games) I would," Silas said. "There have been too many mental errors and mistakes which have been our downfall all season. We need more people to step up and concentrate." Maggette and Davis each sank 1-of-2 free throws before Maggette nailed a 3-pointer with just under a minute remaining to start a 7-0 game-ending run. "Credit it to Chris Kaman," Maggette said of his 3-pointer. "He set a great screen and knocked down Darius Miles. It gave me the opportunitiy to set my feet and any guy that can set his feet can hit a wide-open shot." "I'm proud of (Kaman)," Richardson said. "We mess with him all the time and kid him and call him 'Loose Cannon.' He's doing all he can and we're happy for him." Zydrunas Ilgauskas contributed 24 points and 12 rebounds and Carlos Boozer added 14 and a career-high 21 boards for Cleveland, which scored 14 of the game's first 16 points and opened up a 29-16 lead with 2:07 left in the first quarter. "We do a great job of getting an early lead, but we need to figure out what it takes to get over the hump at the end of games," Boozer said. The score was 35-24 early in the second quarter before Los Angeles went on a 21-6 run to take a 45-41 lead with 2 1/2 minutes left. Richardson scored 14 of his 19 first-half points in the second quarter to guide the Clippers to a 50-48 edge at the break.
