Game StoryWASHINGTON (Ticker) -- Tracy McGrady scored 27 points as the Orlando Magic defeated the Washington Wizards, 95-91, for their second straight win after a 19-game losing streak. Orlando, which beat Phoenix at home on Monday, snapped an eight-game road losing streak. The Magic had not won away from home since the season opener at New York. "Hopefully we can run off a 10-game winning streak," McGrady said. "That would be real good." McGrady's only points of the fourth quarter came on a 19-foot jump shot with three minutes left, making it 93-88. It proved to be enough for Orlando as Washington could only muster a 3-pointer from rookie Steve Blake the rest of the way. "We kept our poise," said former Wizard Juwan Howard, who had 15 points and nine rebounds. "We didn't rattle under pressure, got some stops and rebounds and pulled out a victory." The only other points down the stretch came on a pair of free throws by Orlando's Shammond Williams with 8.1 seconds left after rookie teammate Zaza Pachulia controlled a jump ball with the shorter Juan Dixon. Larry Hughes scored 19 points to lead the Wizards, including an acrobatic one-handed shot in the lane with 5:39 remaining that got Washington within 87-84. The Wizards got as close as a point 28 seconds later on a pair of free throws by Dixon, but never led in the fourth quarter. "We turned the ball over, that is what we did," Hughes said. "We got the lead down, but the turnovers kept sending it back to six." Williams scored a season-high 17 points off the bench, hitting 3-of-4 shots from 3-point range. The Magic benefited at the end of the first quarter when Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas, who was on the bench in street clothes and has been on the injured list since November 25, was called for two technical fouls and thrown out of the game. McGrady hit a pair of free throws, and it looked like those points might be meaningful. "I ain't never seen that," McGrady said. "I thought that was hilarious. Thank you. I walked to the free-throw line and got two free throws and didn't even have to work for it. We need them all, we'll take everything we get." The Magic won despite Wizards forward Kwame Brown's best game of the season. Brown tied a season high with 18 points and pulled down a season-high 14 boards. "We're very pleased with his growth," Wizards coach Eddie Jordan said of Brown. "He's getting more time and his minutes are up. He's scoring in the post and he's just turned it around."
