Game StoryMILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Rookie Kirk Hinrich is getting the hang of playing point guard in the NBA. Journeyman Damon Jones has it down pat. Jones scored 13 of his season-high 22 points in the fourth quarter, turning back a rally and lifting the Milwaukee Bucks to a 109-95 victory over Hinrich and the Chicago Bulls. Hinrich, a 2003 first-round pick, has been thrust into a prominent role as Jay Williams was in a career-threatening motorcycle accident, Jalen Rose was traded to Toronto and Scott Skiles replaced Bill Cartwright as coach. He scored a season-high 17 points, reaching double figures for the fourth time in the last eight games. "Ever since the coaching change, my comfort level has been a lot different," said Hinrich, who made 5-of-7 shots, including four 3-pointers. "I have been feeling more comfortable. The up-tempo style suits me. Tonight I made some shots and teammates start looking for you if you get the hot hand like that." Hinrich led a second-half rally that saw the Bulls erase a 14-point deficit and take their only lead at 81-80 with 10:02 remaining before Jones emerged, scoring seven straight points. A 3-pointer by Hinrich and a free throw by Kendall Gill pulled Chicago into an 87-87 tie with 5:42 to go. But Jones, who also had nine assists, made a layup in an 8-0 burst that marked the onset of a game-ending 22-8 run. "The big key was we got stops," said Jones, who also had nine assists. "Our big guys did a great job of rebounding and we pushed it in transition. When we play a transition game, it plays to our strengths." Jones signed with Milwaukee as a free agent in the offseason, joining his eighth team since entering the league in 1999. Serving as a mentor to rookie point guard T.J. Ford, he came in averaging 6.0 points and 4.2 assists. Michael Redd scored 30 points and Desmond Mason added 21 and 11 rebounds for the Bucks, who have won 12 straight home meetings with the Bulls dating to March 29, 1998. Milwaukee has won two in a row following a three-game slide. Marcus Fizer scored 19 points off the bench and Kendall Gill added 18 points for the Bulls, who fell to 1-4 under Skiles. "I'm frustrated," Gill said. "I was frustrated a long time ago, but it is reaching a point where it is becoming unbearable for me." Chicago trailed 31-15 after one period and 57-46 at halftime as Redd scored 15 points. "I'm more concerned with why playing on Monday and Friday we came out in the mud like we did," Skiles said. "I think part of our fatigue is that some of our guys are not used to practicing hard. They are not where they need to be." After the Bulls tied the game, Dan Gadzuric gave the Bucks the lead for good with a follow dunk, Jones had a layup and Redd and Mason made jumpers for a 95-87 bulge with 3:26 to go. "We had a big lead and we didn't execute," Jones said. "They got some easy baskets. The crowd got us back into it. We made shots and buckled down on defense."
