Game StoryPORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) -- Damon Stoudamire, Rasheed Wallace and the rest of the Portland Trail Blazers are a different team at home. Stoudamire and Wallace made big shots down the stretch as the Trail Blazers edged the Los Angeles Lakers, 112-108, to snap a three-game losing streak. The Trail Blazers' fortunes can practically be charted by where they play. They won three straight games at the Rose Garden before embarking on a three-game road trip, dropping each game. Portland is 0-8 on the road. Back home, the Trail Blazers stood up to the best team in the league, taking a tight game with some clutch shooting by Stoudamire and Wallace. "Our crowd was just terrific," Portland coach Maurice Cheeks said. "We need to get these fans here to the Milwaukee game Tuesday." Stoudamire, who scored 25 points, made a pair of 3-pointers 35 seconds apart, giving Portland a 109-104 lead with 1:33 to play. Wallace, who scored 28 points, sank a jumper that kept the margin at 111-106 with 25 seconds left. "We've just got to keep digging and fighting," said Stoudamire, who also had eight assists. "We're going to get it together on the road." Zach Randolph had 24 points and 11 rebounds for the Trail Blazers, who improved to 11-2 at home. "We can win against anyone," Cheeks said. "We just now need to be able to win anywhere. But we'll take this. We'll take all the home wins we can get." Kobe Bryant scored 16 of his 35 points in the fourth quarter for the Lakers (18-5), who have lost two in a row following a 10-game winning streak. "We're in a good spot right now," Bryant said. "We've had an opportunity to learn, and win while doing so. I think that's very positive." Two free throws by Wallace at the 3:19 mark snapped a 99-99 tie and Randolph added a jumper. "We knew we were playing the best team in the NBA," Randolph said. "Everybody was up. How can you not be up for a game like this?" Shaquille O'Neal, who had 22 points and 10 rebounds, made a hook, then tried to save a rebound from going out of bounds. But it went right to Stoudamire, who stepped into the shot and drilled it for a 106-101 lead. After Bryant made a 3-pointer, another rebound was tapped to Ruben Patterson, who found Stoudamire for another open 3-pointer. "They always say when the ball comes, when you get a second-chance rebound, most of the time good things don't happen for the opposing team, and that was just a case in point," Stoudamire said. "The ball came out the one time and Ruben found me the other." "They had some good bounces fall tonight," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "They stepped up and elevated their game pretty well." O'Neal and Gary Payton each made a free throw, but Wallace's high-arcing shot hit the rim three times before dropping through. "It all starts with No. 30 (Wallace)," Stoudamire said. "No. 30 came to play." The Trail Blazers have won their last five regular-season home meetings with the Lakers.
