Game StoryAUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- Chauncey Billups, Chucky Atkins and the Detroit Pistons showed some offensive prowess for a change. Billups and Atkins each scored 19 points as the Pistons coasted to a 96-75 victory over the Utah Jazz. Detroit entered as losers of five of six, averaging just under 78 points in that stretch. The Pistons had not cracked 90 since a 92-88 victory over Cleveland on November 28. "Any victory for me is a feel-good victory, but I think the team needed that," Pistons coach Larry Brown said. "They're a young team and it's been tough." Billups had 13 points by halftime as the Pistons took advantage of the road-weary Jazz for a 48-36 cushion. Atkins' 3-pointer with 9:51 left capped a run of seven straight points for a 77-55 advantage. Utah fell to 2-3 on a season-high six game road trip that ends Monday in Chicago. Carlos Arroyo was the only player in double figures for the Jazz with 11 points. "We were no match for these guys right from the beginning," Utah coach Jerry Sloan said. "They came out strong and just manhandled us the entire game." Detroit won for just the second time in seven games, shooting percent and placing players in double figures. The Pistons had not broke the 80-point mark in their last three games. Tayshaun Prince netted 18 points as Detroit's perimeter players shouldered the load. Prince, Billups and Atkins combined to make 21-of-30 shots for the Pistons, who led by as many as 24 points. "I think the biggest change is aggressiveness and everyone on the same page as everyone else," Billups said. "When we saw the open man, we did a good job of hitting him." The Jazz fell to 3-9 on the road and were held below 80 points for the third time this season. Utah had 24 turnovers, five by star forward Andrei Kirilenko, who managed only nine points. It marked just the second time this season he failed to reach double figures.
