Game StoryCLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Eric Williams caught fire in the fourth quarter to help the Cleveland Cavaliers smoke out the New Orleans Hornets. Williams scored seven straight points to give the Cavaliers their first lead of the game with 7:33 left and they never looked back on the way to a 97-86 victory, their season-high third straight. It is the Cavaliers' first three-game winning streak since April 6-10, 2002. "In the past, we would not have won this type of game," Cleveland coach Paul Silas said. "We gutted it out. Our team showed a lot of character." Williams hit a jumper from the right side, a 3-pointer and another jumper to make it 77-72 with 6:55 left. His flurry capped a 27-10 run that started midway through the third quarter and culminated with 11 straight points in the fourth. "I've averaged 20 points in this league before and I know how to score," Williams said. "My defensive talents have overhadowed my scoring, and when I was with the Celtics there were other talents there to score." After going scoreless in the first half, Williams finished with 16 points. Rookie LeBron James led the Cavaliers with 22, including an acrobatic lefthanded layup with 1:45 left off a steal that made it 87-78. "(The Cavaliers) are playing very well right now," Hornets coach Tim Floyd said. "They're playing with a lot of heart, a lot of passion. They did some good things out there." James also had a season-high six steals and grabbed six rebounds. The Hornets led by as many as 16 points in the third quarter, but Baron Davis went cold in the second half, making 2-of-14 shots. Although Davis scored 27 points, New Orleans lost for the fourth time in five games. "We were up by (16) points in the third quarter," Davis said. "It doesn't make any sense. That's all I can say." After David Wesley's jumper gave the Hornets a 72-66 lead with 11:11 left, the Hornets went 4:35 without a basket. Silas earned his first win against his former team. The Hornets posted an 82-72 home win on November 26. "It was sweet, there's no doubt. I'm not going to lie and say it wasn't," Silas said. "Those guys are still my guys. I want them to do well, but certainly not when they play us."
