Game StoryCLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Kirk Hinrich was the rookie who made the big play. Hinrich made a key defensive play with under a minute remaining as the Chicago Bulls stopped a nine-game road losing streak with an 87-80 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. The seventh overall pick out of Kansas, Hinrich helped the Bulls preserve an 82-80 lead when he dove to knock the ball out of bounds and away from Carlos Boozer, who looked like he had a clear path to the basket. On the Cavaliers' ensuing possession, they went to LeBron James - the top overall pick and perhaps the most highly touted player ever to enter the league. But he missed a 3-pointer from the right baseline with under 40 seconds left and the Bulls grabbed the rebound. "The hustle play by Kirk to break up that layup at the end was key because we ended up stopping them on that play," Bulls coach Scott Skiles said. After Hinrich sank 1-of-2 free throws, Cleveland's Kevin Ollie had his layup attempt blocked by Corie Blount, and Jamal Crawford scored on an uncontested dunk, making it 85-80 with 21 seconds to go. "I just timed it. When he drove, I knew he was going to try to throw a hook, so I just got it," Blount said. James, who scored at least 30 points in three of his previous four games, was held to 18 on 7-of-24 shooting. He scored 34 points in an overtime loss at Orlando on Thursday but seemed fatigued down the stretch in this one. Cavaliers coach Paul Silas didn't blame fatigue for the loss. "I didn't think so," Silas said. "I didn't play anybody real significant minutes. LeBron had the most with 34. We just didn't bring it." Crawford matched a season high with 30 points and Kendall Gill added 21 for the Bulls, who surpassed their win total on the road from last season, when they went 3-38. Chicago is 4-10 away from the United Center. In a 95-87 loss to Cleveland six days ago, Crawford scored 16 points but made just 7-of-27 shots. "I was due for a good game," he said. "It feels good to get back on track." Skiles said Crawford's defensive effort against James led to his big offensive game. "Every game, I want him to play defense, whether he's guarding LeBron James or my grandmother," Skiles said. "When he does, he has a big offensive game." The Bulls picked up their latest road win thanks in part to a big defensive effort in the fourth quarter, when they held the Cavaliers to just 12 points on 5-of-24 shooting. Cleveland missed its last seven shots and scored just one point over the final 3:34. Boozer finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds and Darius Miles and Ollie each scored 11 points for the Cavaliers, who shot 42 percent (35-of-84). Antonio Davis had 12 points and 11 rebounds and Hinrich had an all-around effective game with 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists for Chicago, which snapped a four-game losing streak. After a slow start, Crawford came alive in the second quarter by scoring 14 points, helping the Bulls to a 46-45 advantage at intermission. James struggled in the half, managing six points on 2-of-9 shooting.
