Game StoryMIAMI (Ticker) -- Keith Van Horn and the New York Knicks are stepping up their play. Van Horn scored 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting as the Knicks rolled to their most lopsided victory this season, 100-80 over the Miami Heat. The much-maligned Van Horn topped the 20-point mark for the fourth straight game, three of which the Knicks have won. He had not scored 20 in four consecutive contests since April 2000, when he played for New Jersey. "I have been feeling really good," said Van Horn, who also went 4-of-7 from the line. "I have been going out there, working hard and focusing on defense and letting my offense come." "I think he's aggressive. It all started about three or four games ago when he started taking the ball to the basket stronger," Knicks coach Don Chaney said. "He's done a really good job of showing his shot and then putting the ball on the floor." Allan Houston added 15 points and Frank Williams chipped in 14 in his first NBA start for the Knicks, who shot 51 percent (40-of-78) and limited the Heat to 36 percent (28-of-78). "It feels good. To start in the NBA is a dream come true," Williams said. "But at the same time, everyone has a job to do and everyone has to contribute. I am trying to get better, night in and night out." "It really starts with defense. When you play good defense, then you can put it in (Williams') hands to capitalize off your good defense," Houston added. "We picked up a lot of energy from our defense and Frank made good plays from our defense. We were able to drive and kick more and get to the free-throw line." New York, which has posted consecutive wire-to-wire wins for the first time since February 1999, held a 65-57 lead with 5:45 left before closing the third quarter on an 18-2 run to blow open the game. The Knicks were playing in front of new team president Isiah Thomas. "I know right before he got here we started playing better," Chaney said. "Just the fact of having him here has helped. ... We need help and that's the reason he's here." Lamar Odom had 25 points and Eddie Jones 17 for Miami, which had won three straight games and seven of nine but was without Dwyane Wade. The star rookie point guard sprained his right wrist late in Friday's victory over Washington. "My wrist is really sore," Wade said. "I am taking it day-by-day right now. I know that it is not broken or fractured and X-rays are negative, so hopefully I will get the soreness and the swelling out so I can play again soon." "Missing one of your best players doesn't help," Heat coach Stan Van Gundy said. "It wouldn't have meant much defensively, but shooting hurt us. You have to play with what you have." New York scored the game's first seven points and took a 27-12 advantage with 2 1/2 minutes left in the opening quarter. The Knicks led by as many as 16 points in the second period before settling for a 52-42 edge at the break. "That was obviously a dominant effort on their part," Van Gundy said of the Knicks. "In the first and third quarters, they took us apart. We couldn't guard any individual in a 1-on-1."
