Game Story

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Lamar Odom and the Miami Heat are picking up their play. Odom collected 25 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists as the Heat rallied from a 17-point deficit to defeat the Chicago Bulls, 90-83. Brian Grant added 18 points and 12 rebounds for Miami, which has won eight of its last 11 games. The Heat trailed, 45-28, with 1:16 left in the second quarter before scoring the final five points of the half and 21 of the first 30 in the second half. They tied the game, 54-54, on a jumper by Grant midway through the third quarter. Grant had 12 points in the period. "Everybody wanted to step it up in the second half," said Grant, who made 7-of-11 shots. "My thing was that if they were going to give me open shots, I was going to shoot them. I know I can hit the shot, and they kept allowing me to get open shots, open shots, open shots." Miami held an 84-83 edge before Chicago's Jamal Crawford - who scored a career-high 42 points on Saturday - shot an airball with 20 seconds remaining and Grant nailed two free throws with 18 seconds left. Bulls rookie Kirk Hinrich dribbled the ball off his leg with 13 seconds to play, and Rafer Alston and Grant each sank a pair from the line to ice the contest. "I felt like they outplayed us beginning to end," Bulls coach Scott Skiles said. "We had the lead in the first half, basically because they missed layups. They had point-blank shots all over the place. They broke us down with penetration. Our pick-and-roll defense was the worst it's ever been for much of the game. Overall, we had a lack of awareness and a lack of effort on the defensive end." Hinrich scored 16 points, Jerome Williams added 14 and 16 rebounds and Antonio Davis 14 and 13 for Chicago, which fell to 5-11 at home. Crawford contributed a career-high 12 assists but scored only eight points on 3-of-16 shooting. The Bulls held a 56-43 rebounding advantage but were undone by poor shooting, connecting on just under 40 percent of their attempts (32-of-81). "Yes, we were pounded on the glass," Heat coach Stan Van Gundy said. "However, some of that was caused out of respect to their guards. Our guys played out away from the glass, which was necessary to take Crawford out of the pick-and-roll." Chicago did itself no favors at the line, sinking just 13-of-22 free throws. Miami rookie Dwyane Wade returned from a one-game absence due to a sprained right wrist and contributed 10 points and eight assists. "It meant a lot to come here and get this win," said Wade, a Chicago native. "It showed me I can tough out injuries and at least help my team. I wasn't my usual self - I couldn't attack the way I wanted to - but I helped my team in different areas."
