Game StorySEATTLE (Ticker) -- Ray Allen ended his shooting slump in a big way. Allen scored 15 of his 41 points in the fourth quarter as the Seattle SuperSonics defeated the Los Angeles Clippers for the fifth straight time, 102-97. One of the best shooters in the NBA, Allen had been slumping of late, making just 28-of-82 shots over his last four games. But after being allowed to skip practice Friday, he snapped out of it Saturday as he made 14-of-23 shots, including 6-of-10 3-pointers. "My body still hasn't acclimated itself to the schedule," said Allen, who fell one point shy of his season high against Portland on January 5. "The shot felt good, I was very efficient tonight. I didn't have to do a lot to get the shots off that I wanted. Tonight was the first night in maybe seven or eight games that I got open looks like I did." "We tried to give him some rest in practice," Sonics coach Nate McMillan said. "Tonight he had his legs and seemed to be getting underneath his shot." Allen fueled a third-quarter run that gave the SuperSonics the lead for good, then buried a clutch 3-pointer that stemmed a rally by the Clippers and gave Seattle an 89-81 advantage with four minutes to play. "When he gets going like that, you've got to let him play," said Sonics guard Antonio Daniels, who scored 14 points. "Let him shoot, let him make the decisions on the floor, and tonight he did a great job of making shots, making decisions and getting other guys involved." Rashard Lewis scored 15 points for the Sonics, who shot 51 percent (40-of-79) from the field, including 11-of-25 from the arc. Seattle has won three of four overall and six of its last seven at home. Corey Maggette had 28 points and 10 rebounds and Elton Brand added 26 and 16 for the Clippers, who have gone more than a year since beating the Sonics. "You have certain team's numbers due to matchups," Allen said. "That's three games against LA (this year). We hope to beat the teams we're supposed to beat and steal some games." Consecutive 3-pointers by Allen, Brent Barry and Lewis and a drive by Allen comprised an 11-0 run that gave Seattle the lead for good at 66-60 with 5:45 remaining. "Those threes are demoralizing," Allen said. "I remember back in the day, they might have been slam dunks, but now it's a 3-pointer." The Sonics also got a boost from Vitaly Potapenko, who played tough defense on Brand in the second half. "I was surprised. I was catching it on the wing and I was getting double-teamed," Brand said. "I haven't had that type of defensive intensity in a while. Double-teams in the post? Yeah. But not on the wing."
