Game Story

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- The Bradley Center continues to be home sweet home for the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks completed an unbeaten three-game home stretch when Tim Duncan's apparent game-winning dunk was ruled to have come just after buzzer, enabling Milwaukee to post a 93-92 triumph over the San Antonio Spurs. Milwaukee ran the best home record in the Eastern Conference to 18-5 with the help of modern technology. San Antonio trailed 93-92 when Tony Parker inbounded to Duncan, who faked Brian Skinner into the air and sliced in for the dunk. As Duncan's ball went through the rim, the Spurs appeared to have their fourth straight win over Milwaukee. But replays showed the ball was still in Duncan's hand as the clock expired and, with San Antonio in the locker room, the basket was ruled no good. "Thank God for instant replay," Bucks coach Terry Porter said. "It was hard for me to tell with the naked eye, but then I saw the replay. It was close but obviously they looked at the replay. I couldn't tell, it was really close." "It was late," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "It wasn't good. It was pretty obvious. We left afterwards, I knew it wasn't good. The light went off when it was in his hand." Duncan was willing to accept the ruling. "I thought I got it off right as the horn went off," Duncan said. "I guess it looked like it was a half second too slow. I had to go to the basket considering that we had only three seconds, I thought I made the move fast enough to the rim, I thought I had plenty of time." Tim Thomas had 22 points and Michael Redd 21 for Milwaukee, which has won 13 of its last 14 home games and five of seven overall. "The more we win at home, the more the crowd's going to come out to support us, which is great," Porter said. "We have good fan support and we try to give them what they want to see," Bucks forward Joe Smith said. "Now, we need to do that on the road." Parker had 26 and Duncan 22 for San Antonio, which began a stretch in which nine of its next 11 games are on the road. San Antonio looked like it was going to blow out Milwaukee, scoring 16 of the game's first 18 points. But the Bucks battled back and had the game tied, 21-21 after 12 minutes. Tim Thomas had six points and Desmond Mason five in a 20-12 spurt that closed the second quarter and left Milwaukee with a 52-44 halftime edge. The Bucks still held an 85-79 lead with 6 1/2 minutes left but San Antonio rallied and took an 89-88 lead on a jumper by Parker with 3:33 to go. The lead seesawed into the final minute when a layup by Redd with 21 seconds to go gave Milwaukee a 93-92 edge. "Coach designed it to get the ball in my hands, and (Robert) Horry switched out and rather than shoot over him and I took it to the hole," Redd said.
