Game Story

DENVER (Ticker) -- Marcus Camby owned the backboards. The Denver Nuggets owned the road-weary Chicago Bulls. Camby had a career-high 24 rebounds and Rodney White came off the bench to score a career-high 24 points as the Nuggets routed the Bulls, 115-99. Camby was everywhere early on, grabbing 18 rebounds in the first half, a franchise record. Overall, he scored 12 points and had two blocked shots as the Nuggets snapped a three-game losing streak. "Coach challenged us yesterday about getting on the boards and being physical down there, so I took it upon myself to go out there and (be assertive) on the defensive end," Camby said. "Marcus Camby was all over the court tonight," Denver coach Jeff Bzdelik said. "He does things defensively that don't show up in the box score." White was 8-of-15 from the field to lead six Nuggets who scored in double figures. Rookie Carmelo Anthony added 21 points and seven rebounds. "This was a must-win game for us," said White. "We just kept running. We knew at some point they would be tired because they played last night. He (Camby) took all the rebounds away from us." The Nuggets took the lead for good with 5 1/2 minutes left in the first quarter and the Bulls got no closer than six points in the second half. The Nuggets took a 100-80 lead on a dunk by Anthony with 6:29 to play and coasted from there. "We'd lost three in a row," Anthony said. "This game was to see where we were at mentally as a team." Denver outrebounded Chicago, 52-29, and held a 54-36 advantage in the paint. Denver took advantage of poor defense by Chicago, which committed 15 fouls in the first quarter. The Nuggets converted those into 17-of-18 free throws. "We kind of knew they would come out running," Bulls guard Jamal Crawford said. "It seemed like everyone was in foul trouble and we couldn't seem to fight back." Eddie Curry scored 21 points and Crawford added 20 for the Bulls, who have dropped six straight away from home. Chicago plays five more road games before returning home February 10. Nuggets guard Voshon Lenard sat out his second consecutive game with a strained right quadriceps.
