Game StoryINDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Eventually, Fred Jones will take over for Reggie Miller as the shooting guard of the Indiana Pacers. Just not quite yet. Miller made five 3-pointers and scored 18 points and Jones added 12 off the bench as the Pacers snapped a two-game slide with a 101-79 victory over the Phoenix Suns. Al Harrington scored 24 points off the bench for the Pacers, who had five players in double figures as they avoided their first three-game losing streak of the season. The 38-year-old Miller displayed his trademark long-range shooting, making 5-of-6 3-pointers. Four of them came in the third quarter, including three in a row that turned it into a rout. "I think you've always got to have a sense for when a team is struggling," Miller said. "You're trying to create separation during a game. The biggest thing you can do to really put a team on their back is hit big threes, especially in transition." "I learn something from him every day at practice," Jones said. "I tell him, 'You have to teach me this trick and that trick.' I feel lucky to have the chance to learn from him. He has a great work ethic." The 24-year-old Jones continued to impress with his athleticism. As Miller's backup, he made 5-of-9 shots and grabbed six rebounds. "It's my job to make sure that he's rested," Jones said. "On a night like tonight, we can give him a chance to get a little extra rest." "He played great tonight," Miller said. "He made the most of his minutes." Indiana went on a 14-0 run early in the third quarter to open a 66-46 lead, then used Miller's marksmanship to push the advantage to 77-50 with 4:11 to play in the period. "That right hand is a dagger," Harrington said. "We didn't read the scouting report really well," deadpanned Suns coach Mike D'Antoni. Ron Artest shook off a thumb injury to score 14 points and Jermaine O'Neal added 13 for the Pacers, who have won 13 of their last 16 games. Joe Johnson scored 23 points for Phoenix, which was swept in the season series as it fell to 1-2 on a five-game road trip.
