Game StorySAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- Bobby Jackson showed why he is in the running for a second straight Sixth Man of the Year award. Jackson scored 12 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Sacramento Kings to a rare victory over the San Antonio Spurs, 96-91. Peja Stojakovic had 22 points and Mike Bibby added 17 for the Kings, who lost 10 of 12 meetings with the Spurs over the previous three seasons. This was the first of four encounters in 2003-04. "It's a regular-season game, we play them three more times," Stojakovic said. "They play East Coast basketball - tough on the defensive end and patient on offense." Sacramento had a 78-76 advantage before Jackson nailed the first of three 3-pointers with 7:59 remaining in the final period. San Antonio, which trailed, 89-80, with less than three minutes to play, pulled within 91-87 on a dunk by Malik Rose off a steal by Manu Ginobili with 46 seconds left. But after a timeout, Jackson again connected from the arc, this time from the left elbow with 29 seconds to play. Bruce Bowen fouled him and Jackson made the free throw to give the Kings an eight-point cushion - and send of the crowd at the SBC Center to the exits. "They could have gone or not gone," Jackson said of his 3-pointers. "If I would have missed them, they'd write that you missed the key jumpers. You have to have confidence and shoot the ball." "Bobby has been great for us," Stojakovic said. "He brings a lot of energy off the bench, especially on the offensive end. He can get it going anytime, no matter if you have a hand in his face. Tonight, he was awesome." The Kings, who improved to 11-9 on the road, are 3-2 on a season-high six-game trip. They went 2-1 through the "Texas Triangle," losing to Dallas but beating Houston. "You take them one game at a time," Stojakovic said. "You never plan something like that. We see what we can do better. Dallas was kind of a mix for us, but we came back against Houston and San Antonio. The defensive end was the key." San Antonio, which got 35 points and 18 rebounds from All-Star Tim Duncan, jumped out to a 14-3 lead after four minutes, but Sacramento stormed back to take a 27-22 edge after the quarter and led thereafter. "It was a heckuva win," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "I guess we tried to lull them to sleep at the start of the game, but after that, we really played solid." The Kings scored 22 points off 15 turnovers by the Spurs, who managed just 12 points off 13 giveaways by Sacramento. The Kings, who made half of their 74 shots, also had a 34-8 advantage in bench scoring. "We played, unfortunately, two distinct halves," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "In the first half, mentally we were poor and lax on defense. In the second half, we played excellent defense. Give Sacramento credit, they knocked down a three every time we got within four or five."
