Game Story

PORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) -- Rasheed Wallace justified his arm-pumping. Wallace scored five of his 29 points in overtime, including a go-ahead 3-pointer, as the Portland Trail Blazers rallied from a 15-point deficit to beat the Chicago Bulls, 102-95, for their first four-game winning streak of the season. The temperamental Wallace gave Portland the lead for good, 96-93, with a shot from the arc with 2:54 left in the extra period. The edge was 96-95 when Wallace stole the ball from Antonio Davis and threw down an alley-oop dunk off a feed from Damon Stoudamire with 1:21 remaining. After the play, Wallace, who made 13-of-18 shots, celebrated by screaming and waving his arms. "We can't say enough about Rasheed's play lately," Portland coach Maurice Cheeks said. "His aggressive play has been a big factor. He has the ability to take our team to a higher level." "If Rasheed played like that every night ... if he wants to be, he can be the best player in the league. When he wants to be," said former Trail Blazer Scottie Pippen, who scored 17 points. "Tonight he brought the big game and his teammates followed." Chicago's Eddy Curry, who scored 27 points, missed a pair of free throws 10 seconds later. Stoudamire and Derek Anderson capped the scoring with two free throws apiece. Zach Randolph scored 20 points and Stoudamire added 10, a season-high 14 assists and seven rebounds for Portland, which has won five of six after a three-game losing streak. The Trail Blazers had not won four games in a row since February 25-March 2, 2003. Portland, which had just finished a perfect three-game road trip, begins another three-game stretch away from home at Denver on Monday. "It was big," Stoudamire said. "We got our momentum on the road, came home and got a big win. Now we're going back on the road. Hopefully, we'll keep it up. I think we're coming together as a team." "I definitely would rather go to a straight seven or eight games (on the road), but then again, I got a chance for a day or two to see my wife and kids," Wallace said. Jamal Crawford scored 18 points, and rookie Kirk Hinrich contributed 12 and 11 assists for the Bulls, who blew a 15-point second-quarter lead en route to their 10th loss in 11 games. Chicago, which dropped its 25th consecutive road game against Western Conference teams, has lost eight in a row away from the United Center and fell to 0-4 on its season-high seven-game road trip. The Bulls held a 91-89 lead before Curry was whistled for goaltending a shot by Wallace with 59 seconds left in regulation. Both teams blew multiple opportunities to score in the final minute, with Chicago's Antonio Davis missing a jumper with just over a second left and Anderson failing to sink a runner at the buzzer. "I thought we played really hard, I thought we played really well," Bulls coach Scott Skiles said. "We had a lot of great stretches. We just had a lot of small played that added up, loose balls we couldn't come up with."
