Game StoryNEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- If the New Jersey Nets thought Byron Scott was too laid back, they are responding to Lawrence Frank's enthusiasm. Kerry Kittles scored 12 of his 16 points in a dominant third quarter and Jason Kidd had 14 points and 12 assists as the Nets extended their winning streak to a season-high five games with a 91-70 rout of the New Orleans Hornets. The Nets made a surprising coaching change on January 26 after deciding that the low-key Scott was no longer getting his message across. They seem to have benefited from the contrasting personality of Frank, who is unbeaten in four games as a coach. "Everyone is taking the individual challenge," said Frank, who is the first Nets coach to win his first four games. "Teamwise, we've always been solid, but I think individuals have stepped up their play on the ball." New Jersey was trailing early in the third quarter before Frank was whistled for a technical foul for arguing a foul with 9:50 remaining. The Nets responded immediately, ending the quarter with a 29-13 run. "He's out their fighting for us," Nets forward Richard Jefferson said. "We're all in this together. He's our coach, we believe in him, he believes in us, and we're all out there fighting together." Kittles - a New Orleans native - scored 10 points in the final six minutes of the quarter to help New Jersey to a 66-54 cushion. Jefferson had nine of his 15 points in the quarter and Kidd scored seven points, had six assists and four of his season-high six steals in the period. The Nets dominated the third quarter, making 14-of-21 shots, including 2-of-3 3-pointers, and 5-of-6 free throws. They held a 13-7 rebounding edge and scored 14 of their 18 fast-break points in the period. "We finally got the gumbo off our ribs," Kidd said. "Then we got out and started running. Once the greyhounds get out and start running like that, it's fun." New Jersey managed just 31 points in the first half but bounced back with 60 points on 67 percent (24-of-36) shooting after halftime while holding the Hornets to 28 percent (11-of-39) from the floor. "Their athleticism, their quickness in the open floor, their ability to break us down off the dribble, wore us down in the second half, " Hornets coach Tim Floyd said. "We really fought getting (the ball) down. Right now, there is just not the same flow we've had offensively." Kenyon Martin had 13 points and 12 rebounds, Rodney Rogers added 11 of his 13 in the fourth quarter for New Jersey, which completed the first unbeaten four-game road trip in franchise history. Jamaal Magloire collected 22 points and 13 rebounds and Darrell Armstrong added 13 as the Hornets played without star guard Baron Davis, who sat out with a sprained left ankle. Jamal Mashburn was held to 13 points on 5-of-14 shooting for New Orleans, which finished at less than 36 percent (24-of-67) from the floor and committed 23 turnovers. "We're not shooting the ball well as a team," Armstrong said. "It's going to happen sometimes and what you have to do is keep digging and keep working and hopefully, you can work your way out of it."
