Game Story

DALLAS (Ticker) -- The Golden State Warriors play the Dallas Mavericks once more time this season. Maybe they shouldn't bother. The Mavericks extended their winning streak against the Warriors to 20 games with a 107-93 triumph as Michael Finley scored 23 points and Antawn Jamison added 20 and 12 rebounds off the bench against his former team. Steve Nash chipped in 17 points and eight assists for Dallas, which never trailed in the second half and has not lost to Golden State since April 10, 1999. The streak includes 11 home wins. "It's always good to win, it doesn't matter if it's a streak or one or two games," Finley said. "We've been fortuante against Golden State, a team that always plays us tough, no matter what the roster is. They always bring out the best of us as a team." After being outplayed early, the Mavs asserted themselves in the second quarter. Jamison's basket with 4:07 to go in the period broke a 41-41 tie and put Dallas ahead for good. "It's a good feeling to win against an old team, but that's not the most important thing right now," Jamison said. "We just want to go into the All-Star break on a winning track." Finley keyed an 8-2 run to start the second half, extending Dallas' lead to 57-48. The Mavericks cruised thereafter, leading by as many as 18 points. "We were kind of flat for a long period of time, but we played well enough to give ourselves a bit of a cushion," Nash said. "Then, after a lack of efficiency in the fourth quarter recently, I thought we did a good job tonight of stepping up defensively and making big plays on offense." Speedy Claxton and Jason Richardson scored 20 points apiece for the Warriors, who have lost two in a row following a season-high three-game winning streak. They dropped to 5-20 on the road. "We need to do a better job of rebounding against Dallas," Richardson said. "Antwan Jamison and Josh Howard did a great job for them getting rebounds and hustling for the ball. That was the difference." Golden State was outrebounded, 48-31. "That's a very good team over there with a lot of shooters and a lot of weapons," Warriors coach Eric Musselman said. "They come off the bench and keep coming at you in waves. When you can bring Jamison off the bench and he gives you 20 and 12, it's a pretty good team." Dallas leads the season series, 3-0, and improved to 22-4 when holding opponents under 100 points. Golden State forward Mike Dunleavy missed his second straight game due to a sprained left ankle.
