Game StoryMEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- It has taken only 49 games for Pau Gasol and the Memphis Grizzlies to match their franchise record for wins in a season. Gasol collected 27 points and 12 rebounds as the Grizzlies defeated the Milwaukee Bucks, 105-85, for their 28th victory, matching the best total in their nine-season history. James Posey added 21 points and 11 rebounds and Lorenzen Wright chipped in 10 and 10 for Memphis, which has three games remaining before the All-Star break. "This just means we're having a pretty good season," Gasol said. "We're coming to work with a different mentality. There's a different chemistry - guys are working hard and you don't see guys down. The way we're playing right now, the way that we're fighting, something's going to have to go really wrong for us not to get (to the playoffs)." Wright attributed the team's better play to 70-year-old Grizzlies coach Hubie Brown, who joined the Grizzlies in the middle of last season. "He has really come in here and changed this team," Wright said. "He's done exactly what he said he was going to do. He told us how the season was going to go and how the year was going to pan out. And when you have a coach like that, you have to respect him and play hard for him." About the only thing that did not go right for the Grizzlies was a chest bruise suffered by oft-injured Mike Miller, who collided with Milwaukee's Desmond Mason with 6:58 left in the second quarter. Miller did not return. Wright and Mason, who injured his left wrist in the collision, were issued double technicals after the play, as were Gasol and Milwaukee's Damon Jones. Michael Redd scored 20 points and Tim Thomas added 18 for the Bucks, who shot just 37 percent (31-of-83) from the field as they dropped their sixth straight road game. The Grizzlies outscored the Bucks on the break, 20-8. "Their transition game was the story of the game," Redd said. "They did a good job pushing the ball tonight and making plays." "They played with more purpose than we did," Bucks coach Terry Porter said. "I give Memphis a lot of credit - they came into this game and they beat us. I think we got outworked tonight." Memphis took the lead for good, 5-4, on a 3-pointer by Miller 53 seconds into the contest. The Grizzlies held a 31-24 advantage after one quarter and a 57-48 lead at the break before opening an 85-68 cushion entering the fourth quarter. "I would like to get 50 wins. Why not say it?" Gasol said. "But to say it and get it done are a different story. We just have to go game by game and not give away any games that we have to win. We have to stay focused and keep our feet on the floor because it's going to get tough after the All-Star Game."
