Game StoryDENVER (Ticker) -- Andre Miller and the Denver Nuggets bounced back from a blowout loss in fine fashion. Held scoreless in a 23-point loss at Sacramento on Sunday, Miller scored 20 points, including a tough jumper in the final minute, as the Nuggets snapped the Memphis Grizzlies' four-game winning streak, 86-83. Rookie Carmelo Anthony collected 20 points and 11 rebounds and Nene added 14 and 11 for Denver, which overcame 39 percent shooting (34-of-88) by coming up with big plays down the stretch. Denver held just an 82-81 lead when Miller hit a jumper over Earl Watson along the left baseline with 36 seconds left and the shot clock about to expire. "He has been so good for us for so long, so he was entitled to a few poor games," Nuggets coach Jeff Bzdelkik said. "He still had eight assists yesterday even though he didn't score. I wanted to put the ball in his hands at the end of the game." Memphis called timeout and scored three seconds later on a baseline dunk by Shane Battier. Miller missed a fadeaway with nine seconds left and Memphis raced upcourt. Grizzlies center Pau Gasol appeared to have an uncontested layup in his sights but lost the ball to Anthony while trying to execute a crossover dribble. "He put the ball in front of me, so I took it," Anthony said. Anthony sank two free throws with eight-tenths of a second left before Watson beat the defense down the court for a game-tying 3-point attempt. But Watson front-rimmed his shot, and the Nuggets escaped. "We had plenty of opportunities," Grizzlies coach Hubie Brown said. "We had a chance to win in the last three minutes and that was important to us." It was the Nuggets' 13th straight home victory over the Grizzlies and 16th in 18 meetings in Denver all time in the series. Despite missing center Marcus Camby (strained left hamstring), Denver outrebounded Memphis, 46-43, including 16-11 on the offensive glass. "We knew we had to rebound as a team with Camby out," said Denver guard Voshon Lenard, who scored 10 points. "That's 15 rebounds missing, but I think we did a great job against a team that has been hot. It was a physical game, kind of (like a) playoff game, especially in the second half. Nothing was easy and everything we got, we earned it." In the loosely called contest, the Nuggets lost guard Jon Barry to a strained right rotator cuff in the third quarter. He did not return and will have an MRI Tuesday. "Yeah, they were beating us up, (but) the refs were letting us play," Anthony said. "I like physical games, especially when the refs let us play like they did. I believe Memphis is a rivalry. We are the two teams that made some turnaround (this season)." Battier scored 13 points off the bench and Gasol added 12 for Memphis, which shot 45 percent overall (37-of-82) but just 3-of-15 from the arc. The Grizzlies also went just 6-of-10 from the line while the Nuggets were 15-of-20. "It is difficult to run plays when guys are getting knocked down and fouls are not called," Brown said. In a game that featured 14 lead changes and 19 ties, neither team led by more than four points in the fourth quarter. Memphis took its last lead, 81-80, on a jump shot by Gasol with 2:26 left before Rodney White game Denver the lead for good with 1:21 to play.
