Game StoryPHOENIX (Ticker) -- Vince Carter and Morris Peterson provided more than enough offense to lead the shorthanded Toronto Raptors to their fourth win in fives games. Carter scored 22 of his 29 points in the second half and Peterson hit seven 3-pointers to help the Raptors to a 101-94 victory over the Phoenix Suns. "I was just being patient and Mo Pete (Peterson) was shooting the ball well," Carter said. "I wanted to come out and let the game come to me," Peterson said. "I played relaxed and did what I could to help us win. After I hit the first shot, I felt comfortable." Peterson scored a season-high 27 points while Donyell Marshall added 25 and 11 rebounds to help Toronto sweep the season series from Phoenix for the first time since the 1996-97 campaign. Toronto was playing without guard Jalen Rose, who suffered a broken left hand Sunday and had surgery Tuesday. He is expected to miss at least four weeks. His teammates were more than willing to pick up the slack. After struggling to 2-of-10 shooting in the first half, Carter was 10-of-15 after halftime. Peterson hit 7-of-11 3-pointers. "I wasn't in a state of panic as far as not scoring. That is what people want to see," Carter said. "I want to win, and if the go-to (guy) was Mo Pete, then give him the ball. (In the) second half, they had to pay more attention to him, then I was able to get myself going." "I know we have Jalen (Rose) out and he's one of our top scorers and we needed guys to step up," Peterson said. Amare Stoudemire scored 23 points and Joe Johnson added 19 as the Suns lost for the 10th time in 12 games. Jake Voskuhl had 15 points while Shawn Marion added 14 and 10 rebounds. Toronto used an 18-6 third-quarter run to seize the lead for good at 68-66 with 2:26 left in the period. Peterson hit two 3-pointers during the spurt. "The third quater was the deciding factor of the game," Peterson said. "Vince is going to draw a lot of double-teams and the coach talked to him about going to the basket more and the teams have to key on that. That gives us more room." Marshall scored the final basket in the third-quarter run and injured Marion in the process. Marion was elbowed in the jaw by Marshall on the play and lay on the court for a few minutes before walking to the bench on his own. He sat out of the game for a few minutes before re-entering and finishing the contest. "It's kind of getting redundant coming here and saying we're awful, but we're just not playing well," Suns coach Mike D'Antonti said. "We're out of sync and it just doesn't feel good, doesn't look good and I'm sure the fans understand that." The Suns have now lost four games in a row and 10 of 12. Phoenix finished its homestand with a 1-4 record.
