Game StoryAUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- The Detroit Pistons rediscovered their winning formula. Richard Hamilton scored 23 points and backcourt mate Chauncey Billups added 20 as the Pistons snapped a season-high six-game losing streak with a 102-98 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. Detroit is 7-0 this season when Hamilton and Billups each score 20 or more points. "We're still confident," Hamilton said. "It's like when you miss a bunch of shots in a row. As soon as you hit one, you know they're going to start going in again. That's how you have to be." Pistons All-Star center Ben Wallace just missed a triple-double with 11 points, 15 rebounds and eight blocks. In the first quarter, it appeared Detroit's losing streak would continue as Milwaukee raced to a 33-20 lead. But Detroit picked up its defensive intensity over the final three periods in a physical contest that featured a combined 63 fouls. "We got up and got in guys and made them take tough shots," Wallace said. "That's the way we've got to play. We have to start the game like that and finish the game like that." The Bucks made the Pistons sweat in the final minutes, cutting a 12-point deficit to 98-94 on Erick Strickland's 3-pointer with 23 seconds left. "We only turned the ball over three times in the first half," Piston coach Larry Brown said. "They had 15. That kept us in the game." All-Star Michael Redd scored 23 points and Desmond Mason added 20 for the Bucks, who have dropped seven straight on the road. Milwaukee grabbed a season-high 62 rebounds, including 24 on the offensive end, but shot just 35 percent (31-of-88) from the field. Joe Smith pulled down 16 rebounds for the Bucks. "It definitely turned into a physical game in the second half," Mason said. "When we tried to step up the intensity a little bit, then we started getting hit with fouls. But those are things in the NBA that you have to find a way to play through." Corliss Williamson chipped in with 15 points for the Pistons, who allowed just 14 points in each of the second and third periods. Detroit led, 50-47, at halftime and opened a 76-61 advantage entering the fourth quarter. "That's a great win," Billups said. "We came out and we were down 13 points early. I'd say that is one of the great wins for us, especially because we have been struggling." The teams combined for 79 free throws, with the Pistons making 23-of-40 and the Bucks converting 30-of-39.
