Game StorySAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- The San Antonio Spurs were happy to be back home, especially against the Houston Rockets. Tim Duncan had 27 points and 13 rebounds and Manu Ginobili scored 21 points as the Spurs extended their home winning streak over the Rockets to 13 games with an 86-77 victory. San Antonio returned from a season-high seven-game road trip to face intrastate rival Houston, which has not posted a road win in the series since April 20, 1997, two months before the Spurs drafted Duncan. San Antonio extended its overall winning streak over Houston to seven games, sweeping the season series for the fourth time in six years. "To be able to sweep Houston the way we did is almost impossible," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "I'm thrilled that we were able to focus and get that done." The Spurs, who went 6-1 on their 20-day trek, continued to roll with their eighth win in nine games. "It was great being back home," Duncan said. "It seems like it's been months since we've been here. Feeling the crowd, knowing you're the home team, and being back here for a little while is fun." Houston led by as many as 12 points in the first half and seemed ready to snap its six-game overall slide in the series before San Antonio bridged the final two quarters with a 21-5 run. "Nothing changed, I think we just got good possessions," Duncan said. "We moved the ball better, hitting the shooters and making the defense move." The Spurs scored the final seven points of the third quarter, taking the lead for good at 61-60 on Ginobili's jumper with 2:31 left. Duncan capped the quarter with consecutive jumpers 1:52 apart. Duncan and Ginobili each scored eight points during the spurt. San Antonio opened an 81-66 cushion on a jumper by Rasho Nesterovic with 4:14 remaining. "It just got away from us and we lost our composure for about three or four minutes," Houston guard Steve Francis said. "They took over from there and maintained their lead. We quit doing the things that gave us that lead. We have a bit of a habit of doing that." Hedo Turkoglu scored 17 points for San Antonio, which began a stretch in which it plays 13 of 19 games at the SBC Center. Yao Ming, who scored a career-high 41 points in Sunday's triple-overtime win against Atlanta, had 20 as the Rockets lost for just the third time in nine games. "They play such good team defense," Yao said through an interpreter. "They move very quickly on defense. We couldn't get the ball inside at all in the second half and we couldn't do much of anything." Steve Francis scored 16 points and Cuttino Mobley added 11 and seven assists for the Rockets, who shot just 43 percent (30-of-70) from the floor and made only 14-of-21 free throws.
