Game Story

ORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- Keith Van Horn is fitting in just fine with the Milwaukee Bucks. Van Horn scored 25 points, including consecutive clutch baskets down the stretch, as the Bucks extended their winning streak to four games with a 105-97 victory over the Orlando Magic. Van Horn was acquired from the New York Knicks on February 15, joining his fourth team in less than two years. He considered retirement before joining the Bucks, whose open-court style has been a perfect fit for his inside-outside game. "I really wanted to be a one-team guy," Van Horn said. "I always had that dream and very rarely does that happen in this league. I was fortunate to stay in New Jersey for five years. Now that I am in a good situation, I hope to stick around and we can do some damage here in Milwaukee." "He's a big-time scorer," Magic coach Johnny Davis said. "He's always been that way for every team that he's played on, and he made big plays for them down the stretch tonight." Van Horn made 11-of-19 shots, including 5-of-6 in the first quarter, when Milwaukee scored 35 points. But his two biggest baskets came in the final 90 seconds. On consecutive possessions, Van Horn backed down Drew Gooden before flipping in short shots that doubled a four-point lead to 100-92 with 56 seconds left. Van Horn has led the Bucks in scoring three times in the last seven games. "He is definitely paying dividends," point guard Damon Jones said. "He hit some big shots down the stretch for us. He is a versatile player at the 4 position (power forward). A lot of forwards can't guard him." Jones matched a league season high with 17 assists without a turnover for the Bucks, who improved to just 10-19 on the road as they began a four-game trip. "I told him he still hasn't broken my record yet, so he's got a ways to go," said Bucks coach Terry Porter, whose career high was 19 assists. "He did a great job of running our stuff tonight." "I can't take all the credit for the 17 assists," Jones said. "Keith made some shots in the pick-and-roll. Michael Redd made some shots coming off the down pick. Desmond (Mason) in transition got to the basket. And Dan Gadzuric caught a few lobs." Redd scored 24 points and Mason added 22 for Milwaukee, which shot 51 percent (42-of-83). "I think we play together very well," Van Horn said. "Desmond is playing great. Michael is playing great. Damon Jones has come in and played a big role since T.J. (Ford) has been out." NBA scoring leader Tracy McGrady had 31 points for league-worst Orlando, which has lost three of four following a season-high three-game winning streak. Nursing a sore back, McGrady took 15 of the Magic's 23 3-pointers, making five. "Every time I sit down and get up, it's the worst pain," he said. "It takes me a while to get loose and get going." After scoring just 13 points in the third quarter, the Magic opened the final period with a 15-4 run, forging an 80-80 tie with 7:25 to go. A 3-pointer by Jones gave the Bucks a 94-87 lead with 3:15 remaining, but McGrady answered with a 3-pointer.
