Game StorySAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- Tim Duncan made his return for the San Antonio Spurs. For the Los Angeles Clippers, it may have been hard to tell. Duncan scored nine points in 15 minutes and his Spurs' teammates ran the Clippers ragged in a 108-90 victory, their 13th in 17 games. The NBA MVP the last two seasons, Duncan missed six games with a left quadriceps injury. The Spurs won four of those games, losing twice to Memphis in that span. Duncan was activated from the injured list earlier in the day and was in the starting lineup. He played five minutes in each of the first three quarters and did not look hampered, making 4-of-10 shots and adding three assists and two rebounds. "I didn't get tired at all," Duncan said. "I felt pretty good the whole game. I really didn't get winded at all. I felt good running up and down the court. Everything was cool." "He was going to play 15 minutes no matter what," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "He needs to get his timing back and a feel for the court. He's strong enough to be out there. It's more confidence." The Spurs appeared sparked by the return of their superstar and raced to a 69-42 lead at intermission, their highest-scoring half of the season. "That made it a perfect game for for me to come back," Duncan said. "The pressure wasn't there to stay in and make plays. Just work my way back in." "Just his presence alone makes a difference," Clippers forward Elton Brand said. "That and the fact that they were coming off a loss really had them fired up." Center Rasho Nesterovic, who lifted his game in Duncan's absence, scored six points in an 18-3 burst that opened the game. Forward Malik Rose, who assumed most of Duncan's minutes, scored eight in a 13-6 surge that closed the first quarter and gave San Antonio a 37-18 lead. "Malik is getting stable, shooting his shot when he's open," Popovich said. "He's doing a fine job now." Rose had 21 points and 12 rebounds off the bench, Hedo Turkoglu scored 16 points and reserve Manu Ginobili added 14 and eight assists for the Spurs, who never trailed and led by as many as 31 points. "I thought we moved the ball well," Popovich said. "Everybody got involved. We need to do that when Tim's not on the court." Corey Maggette scored 21 points for the Clippers, who fell to 8-51 all-time at San Antonio. Duncan said the soreness has not totally disappeared, which is why Popovich is being cautious with him. "It comes and goes, but it's a lot better now than a week ago," Duncan said. "I'm hoping the pain will go away. There's no prediction on what it will do." "We'll see how he does (Thursday at practice) and go from there," Popovich said. "Hopefully, it will increase a little bit, see how it feels at the workout, work that knee some more and see what happens." Los Angeles lost for the sixth time in seven games. It played without injured guards Marko Jaric (sprained toe) and Quentin Richardson (back).
