Game Story

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- The Golden State Warriors certainly aren't playing like a team whose season is just about over. The Warriors won their season-high seventh straight game, blowing out the Los Angeles Clippers, 105-77. "I think we're sharing the ball a lot better," said Jason Richardson, who scored 20 points. "Our team defense is so high right now it's crazy. We haven't played like this all season long. Guys want to go out there and win no matter who's scoring." The Warriors began the night 12th in the Western Conference. Golden State's Erick Dampier grabbed a career-high 25 rebounds, an NBA-season high for centers in a non-overtime game. Thirteen of the boards were offensive. "I was just able to get myself in position to get the rebounds," said Dampier, who had 16 boards at halftime. "Obviously, we have more size than them. For me whenever a shot goes up, it's just about positioning myself. If I get myself in position, I'll at least get my hand on the ball." Five players scored in double figures for the Warriors. Mickael Pietrus had 17 while Dampier and Mike Dunleavy Jr. added 16 apiece. The Clippers went on a 20-11 run early in the first quarter to take a 24-13 lead and never looked back. They led 54-42 at halftime and 78-61 after three quarters. Los Angeles continued to disply an inability to take care of the ball, with point guard Marko Jaric on the injured list. The Clippers had 20 turnovers. Golden State also had a hand in Los Angeles' sloppinenss. The Warriors have held each of their opponents under 90 points during the winning streak, in which they have taken six of seven at The Arena in Oakland. "I think you can play well at home, but we're going into some environments where guys are still fighting for playoffs in the East," Cliff Robinson said of Golden State's upcoming four-game road trip. "It's going to be a good challenge to see how we react to that, but with the way we're playing, I like our chances." The Warriors are just 8-27 on the road this season. Corey Maggette scored 21 points and Elton Brand added 19 for the Clippers, who have lost eight straight games. They played without guard Quentin Richardson, who sat out his fourth straight with back spasms. "We are not playing well right now," coach Mike Dunleavy said. "We have some injuries, but we are just not doing a good job. We're getting beat on the offensive glass, and turning the basketball over 20 times tonight, they get the lead they needed. It always kept them with a cushion to get this win." "Just keep working and don't give up," Maggette added. "I know we're kind of down and out, out of the playoffs. It's our eighth loss in a row. You gotta try to stay positive, somewhat, and just continue to work.
