Game Story

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- Chris Webber is back and so are the Sacramento Kings. Webber collected his 18th career triple-double as the Kings notched their first win of the season, a 108-92 victory over the previously unbeaten Toronto Raptors. Playing in front of the 227th straight sellout at ARCO Arena, Sacramento avoided its first 0-4 start since 1997 - its last losing campaign. The Kings were swept on the "Texas Triangle" to open this season. Webber, who played in just 23 games last season after returning from left knee surgery, scored 21 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and lifted his assist total for the fourth straight game to 11. He was 10-of-16 from the floor in just 30 minutes as Sacramento shot 54 percent (45-of-83). "The knee is feeling good," Webber said. "Yesterday, it was really sore and I didn't know what today was going to be like, but I'm really happy for today." Brad Miller had 21 points and 12 rebounds for his first double-double of the season and reserve Bobby Jackson scored 18 points in 22 minutes. "They really needed me to step up," said Jackson, who provided a lift while the starting backcourt of Mike Bibby and Doug Christie managed just 12 points. "Not just me, but everybody played like a unit. We didn't do that in the first three games. Hopefully we will continue to do that the rest of the season." Webber had three assists during an game-opening 9-0 run, the last pass leading to a dunk by Miller and a timeout by the Raptors. "The win was great, I'm just really happy I was involved early on and able to get the guys some plays," Webber said. The Kings held a 52-45 lead at halftime and used a 35-point third quarter to put away the game. Sacramento built its lead to 28 points in the final period. Miller had three points and two of his five assists to key a 7-0 run late in the third that gave the Kings an 87-65 advantage. "Brad and Chris are two of the best passing big men in the league and we weren't able to contain them," Toronto swingman Jalen Rose said. Rose and Rafer Alston scored 15 points apiece for the Raptors, who came in 3-0 for the first time in franchise history but never led as they shot just 36 percent (35-of-97). "We knew coming into here that this is a tough place to play, especially with this being their home opener and all and that we needed to get off to a good start," Rose said. "We just weren't able to do that tonight." Vince Carter and Chris Bosh combined for 14 points on 5-of-22 shooting. Since scoring 38 points through his first two games, Bosh is 2-of-15 with six points in his last two contests. Sacramento improved to 13-4 vs. Toronto with its fourth straight win in the series.
