Game StoryOAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- Jason Richardson and Speedy Claxton helped the Golden State Warriors re-establish their home-court advantage. Richardson scored 27 points for the third straight game and Claxton had 14 points and a season-high 11 assists as the Warriors posted a 98-85 victory over the winless Chicago Bulls. "That's the kind of game that you had to have," Golden State coach Mike Montgomery said. "We've got to work on our stuff, come out ready to play against teams that are struggling. I'm sure that Chicago felt that this was a game they had a chance to win. So if you come out not ready to play, they're going to stick it to you." Returning from a five-game road trip, Golden State led for most of the game. It pulled away by scoring the final seven points of the first half and the first 10 of the second to take a 66-44 lead with just under 10 minutes left in the third period. "We finished the half well and we wanted to come out and not let those guys get in the game," Warriors center Cliff Robinson said. "We did what we had to do to keep the pressure on them and build the lead." Richardson made two 3-pointers and Claxton handed out four assists in the spurt for the Warriors, who had six players score in double figures, including all five starters. Golden State had lost its first three home games this season after posting a 51-31 record at The Arena in Oakland over the previous two seasons. "We wanted to establish our home-court advantage and have some wins here at home," Richardson said. "Our fans have our back here at home and it was very important for us to get this win tonight." "It feels good to get our first home win," said Warriors guard Derek Fisher, who scored 13 points off the bench. "It's important that we get these because the fans come out and support us. We are not going to win every night, that's just part of being in this league." Kirk Hinrich had 15 points and 10 assists for the Bulls, who have lost six in a row at Golden State. Chicago is 0-6 for the first time since the 1967-68 campaign. "They're all frustrating right now," said Bulls guard Eric Piatkowski, who had 13 points, nine on 3-pointers. "We felt coming into tonight's game we were playing pretty good basketball. But we didn't play very well tonight. With Ringling Brothers occupying the United Center, the Bulls are on their annual "circus trip" that forces them to the road this season for seven games. Chicago has lost the first two games of this year's junket and is 0-34 on the trip since winning at Boston on Dec. 3, 1997. "The rookies, you can give the benefit of the doubt to," Bulls coach Scott Skiles said. "It's a back-to-back, you're on the West Coast, it's a long trip and we took a bus. You can give them the benefit of the doubt, but some of the other guys there's no excuse." "The mental mistakes are what's killing us right now," Piatkowski said. "We play good for stretches but we haven't put together an entire 48 minutes. When we do that we're going to get a win but the excuse that we're young is getting a little old right now." The Bulls jumped out to an 18-12 lead on a jumper by rookie Andres Nocioni midway through the first quarter. But Richardson scored nine points in a 12-2 run that gave the Warriors the lead for good. "We had many blown coverages in the first quarter, more than a couple of the games we've had," Skiles said.
