Game StoryATLANTA (Ticker) -- Steve Francis and rookie Dwight Howard made the defense of the Atlanta Hawks look like it wasn't there. Francis scored 29 points and Howard added a season-high 24 as the Orlando Magic raced to a 117-99 victory over the slumping, defenseless Hawks. The Magic shot nearly 55 percent (35-of-64) from the field and attempted 54 free throws as they got virtually whatever they wanted against the Hawks, who allowed a season high in points in their fifth straight loss. "You're not going to beat anybody in this league giving up 117 points," Hawks coach Mike Woodson said. "We scored 99 points; that's plenty of points. From a defensive standpoint, we didn't have it tonight." "The whole game we were going to the line and hitting our free throws," said Francis, who was 17-of-18 from the line. "Whatever the defense gave us was our plan." In the first half, Francis did not miss a shot, scoring 18 points on 5-of-5 from the field and 8-of-8 from the line. The Magic shot a blistering 65 percent (22-of-34) and opened a 65-56 lead. Howard played high school ball here at Southwest Christian Academy before being selected as the top overall pick in the 2004 draft. The 18-year-old has spent most of his first season asserting himself on the defensive end. But with the Hawks accommodating him, the teenager made 8-of-11 shots, which included five dunks and shattered his previous high of 15 points. "I just went out there and played not really worrying about my minutes," Howard said. "It was great watching from a fan's point of view here last year and to be able to play here now was a terrific feeling." "The good is (Howard) played great. The bad is now we expect that every night," teammate Grant Hill said. Both Francis and Howard were part of a parade to the foul line in the fourth quarter, when Orlando shot 20 free throws. Overall, the Magic were 44-of-54 from the stripe as the Hawks repeatedly were beaten and had to foul. "It's troubling when you lose a game like that," said Atlanta starting center Jason Collier. "We just didn't stop them on the offensive end. They ran out for easy buckets and that's the reason they had 117 points." Hill scored 18 points and DeShawn Stevenson added 14 for the Magic, who posted their second-highest total of the season despite the absence of guard Cuttino Mobley, who sat out with a groin injury. "I don't think anybody really played well on defense," Hill admitted. "The bottom line is we were able to take advantage of matchups." Antoine Walker and Tony Delk scored 20 points each for the Hawks (2-10), who became the first team to 10 losses. Their defense is the culprit as they fell to 0-6 when allowing 100 or more points. Atlanta used an 11-2 run to close to 88-86 late in the third period. But Francis closed the quarter with two free throws to set an ominous tone. Orlando opened the fourth quarter with a 13-2 run that included eight foul sots, four by Howard. "We were running the floor and that really opened us up for easy baskets and a lot of free throws," Howard said.
