Game StoryPORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) -- After Danny Fortson made an early exit, Zach Randolph handed the Seattle SuperSonics a rare defeat. Randolph scored 11 of his 19 points after Fortson was ejected in the fourth quarter as the Portland Trail Blazers rallied for a 100-94 victory over the SuperSonics, who had a four-game winning streak snapped. Seattle took a 74-64 lead with 10:36 remaining in the final period on two free throws by Ray Allen before Nick Van Exel hit a 3-pointer on the other end to cut the deficit to seven. "That was a heck of a game," Portland coach Maurice Cheeks said. "We got down but battled our way back and didn't give up." On the Sonics' next possession, Fortson was called for a flagrant foul after elbowing Shareef Abdur-Rahim, who made both free throws. Darius Miles hit a jumper with just under 9:26 left to draw within 74-71. "I don't know what went on out there," Abdur-Rahim said. "It was just two guys battling, bumping and grinding, playing to win. I'm not going to back down." Fifteen seconds later, Fortson picked up a technical foul and was ejected, leading to another free throw by Abdur-Rahim. "That just goes back to being calm and staying cool," Sonics coach Nate McMillan said. "We can't afford to lose anybody, especially in that stage of the game." "It was an unfortunate situation," Allen said. "We had so much momentum in the last three or four minutes of the third, then we gave it away. We just lost our heads, and you can't do that. We gave this one away." Once Fortson was gone, Randolph took over, scoring four points in a 9-0 run, including a short jumper at the 7:31 mark that gave Portland the lead for good, 78-77. The Sonics made one final push, cutting the deficit to 96-94 on a 3-pointer by Vladimir Radmanovic with under a minute to go. Randolph clinched the victory with a basket with 17 seconds left. "It was still a frustrating game for me," said Randolph, who battled foul trouble and had only four points and three rebounds at the half. "I wanted the ball in the end, even though I was struggling. I always want the ball in that situation." Abdur-Rahim scored 25 points and hit all 10 of his free throws for the Trail Blazers, who were 19-of-21 from the line in a 38-point fourth quarter. "I don't want to talk about my free throws, don't want to jinx it," Abdur-Rahim said. "Anytime there is a physical game, there's going to be a lot of free throws. Everyone knows how important they are in a close game." Rashard Lewis scored 29 points and Allen added 21 for Seattle, which is winless in its last five visits to the Rose Garden. Seattle seemed to have the game in hand late in the third. With the score tied, 47-47, the Sonics went on a 19-6 run, which was capped by an alley-oop slam by Lewis from Luke Ridnour that put Seattle ahead, 66-53. But Van Exel and Miles scored the final five points of the period to cut the lead to 70-62.
