Game StoryMINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- The Sacramento Kings have run off some impressive winning streaks this season. Kevin Garnett and the Minnesota Timberwolves are making a habit of ending them. Garnett scored 11 of his 35 points in the final period as the Timberwolves used a big fourth-quarter run to post a 113-105 victory over the Kings, who had a five-game winning streak snapped. It marked the second time in as many meetings that Minnesota, behind Garnett's efforts, has dominated the fourth quarter to end a winning streak by Sacramento. On November 28, Garnett fueled a late run to push the Timberwolves past the host Kings, who had an eight-game run halted. On Friday, Minnesota trailed nearly the entire game before another key surge, this one a 14-2 burst. "We had them, but that's the NBA," Kings forward Chris Webber said. "You gotta finish the game. This one hurts." Garnett hit four straight free throws - part of a 13-of-13 performance from the line - to tie the game, 95-95, with 6:26 left. When Fred Hoiberg hit a 3-pointer to give the Timberwolves a 98-97 edge, Minnesota's defense took over. Garnett, who had 18 rebounds and matched a season high with nine assists, made a big block of Brad Miller's shot that led to Sam Cassell's jumper and a 105-98 lead. The sequence highlighted a defensive effort that held the Kings without a basket for nearly five minutes down the stretch. Garnett made or assisted on eight of 14 Timberwolves' baskets in the fourth quarter. "Obviously, I don't know (how to stop them) because we've tried to do it twice this season and haven't done it yet," said Sacramento coach Rick Adelman, who has seen his team lose five straight regular-season meetings to Minnesota. Eddie Griffin had a second straight big game off the bench for Minnesota with 18 points. He scored a career-high 27 at Philadelphia on Wednesday. "(Griffin) adds a whole new dimension and that makes it easier on me," Garnett said. "Not since Googs (ex-Timberwolves forward Tom Gugliotta) have I had a player like Eddie who could pull their big man out of the paint." Griffin was part of a bench that made a significant contribution, scoring 22 points in the fourth quarter, including eight by Hoiberg. "The bench players had a lot of energy and made some shots," Minnesota coach Flip Saunders said. "And they played the right way - they played off Kevin." Webber scored 25 points and Mike Bibby added 21 for the Kings, who fell to 4-5 on the road. "It seems like we didn't have the groove in the fourth quarter," Webber said. "Their energy went up and they fed off their crowd. You've gotta give them credit. They're playing really well."
