Game Story

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Kirk Hinrich put it all together late, allowing the Chicago Bulls to continue their recent roll. Hinrich scored 11 of his 28 points in a pivotal run early in the fourth quarter as the Bulls posted an 85-77 triumph over the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bulls led, 59-57, after three quarters as Hinrich had just 14 points on 5-of-15 shooting. The Bucks actually led, 63-61, just under two minutes into the final quarter when a jumper by Hinrich sparked a 23-4 burst. Chicago scored 15 straight points in the spurt, which was capped by a 3-pointer by Hinrich with 5:52 to go. Milwaukee never got closer than eight points the rest of the way. "I have been working on that, trying not to worry about missing shots," Hinrich said. "(Coach Scott Skiles) has told me to continue to shoot and not to worry about misses. Penetrating the other teams defenses is the key to winning." "We just had no offense," Bucks guard Michael Redd said. "All in all it was a struggle all night. That run in the fourth quarter did us in." Milwaukee's 77 points were an opponent's season low for Chicago, which won back-to-back games for the first time this season. "It's not one of our goals," Skiles said. "We want more than that. It is nice though. We could tell right from the beginning of the game, even though it was a tight game, we had come to play." "It's great to do that," Hinrich said of consecutive wins. "That is not our goal, but maybe we can get on a roll with the way we are playing now." Hinrich made 5-of-7 shots in the final quarter as the Bulls won for the sixth time in 12 games after opening the season 0-9. "We really feel good about how we are playing right now," Chicago center Eddy Curry said. "We pretty much all know our roles. We are having fun out there, and starting to come together as a team." Redd scored 22 points, Desmond Mason added 15 and Joe Smith chipped in 12 and 11 rebounds for Milwaukee, which has lost three straight. The Bucks have lost for the first time in five games against the Central Division this season but have dropped six of their last seven in Chicago. "We just really didn't get it going tonight," Milwaukee coach Terry Porter said. "We did a good job in the first half, but in the second half they got it going." Tyson Chandler had six points, 10 rebounds and tied a career high with seven blocks. "I feel like I could have been more aggressive on offense, but I did have a good overall game," Chandler said. "I rebounded well and had a few blocks." Curry had 10 of his 18 points in the opening quarter, keeping Chicago close. The Bucks led 24-17 after 12 minutes but the Bulls battled back and were within 41-40 at the half. The Bulls lead the all-time series 95-94.
