Game StoryMINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Earlier this month, the Minnesota Timberwolves needed overtime to beat the Los Angeles Clippers. This time, they needed slightly more than three quarters. Wally Szczerbiak scored 11 of his season-high 29 points and Kevin Garnett added 14 of his 28 in the third quarter as the Timberwolves rolled to a 113-86 blowout of the Clippers. On December 4 at Los Angeles, the Wolves held on for a 107-100 overtime win over the Clippers, their eighth straight win in the series. A 3-pointer by Bobby Simmons opened the second half and pulled the Clippers within 47-42 before the Wolves went on an 18-3 burst over the next six-plus minutes to extend their lead to 65-45. Szczerbiak and Garnett combined for 16 points over that stretch. Szczerbiak started the run with back-to-back baskets and Garnett scored the final five points, including a run-capping 3-pointer with 5:31 to go. Minnesota held an 81-67 lead after three quarters and had enough points to win with 10:03 left. It has won nine of its last 12 games. Eddie Griffin scored 11 of his 13 points off the bench in the fourth quarter as the Timberwolves extended their lead to as many as 28 points. Griffin is averaging 13 points over the last five games. Sam Cassell, who scored 30 points in the first meeting between the teams, had 11 and six assists and Garnett grabbed 10 rebounds and seven for Minnesota, which shot 49 percent (38-of-78) from the floor. Latrell Sprewell needed 27 points to pass Kiki Vandeweghe on the all-time scoring list but played just two minutes for Minnesota. The veteran guard scored two points before spraining his left foot in a collision with Los Angeles' Bobby Simmons. Elton Brand scored 17 points and Corey Maggette added 15 but made just 3-of-17 shots for the Clippers, who have lost four in a row, including a pair of two-point losses against Utah and the Lakers. Chris Wilcox added 12 points and five rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench for Los Angeles, which was outscored in the paint, 32-22.
