Game StoryMILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Michael Redd's disappearing act only added to the backcourt woes of the Milwaukee Bucks. Redd did not score until the final two minutes and the Bucks were lit up by another opposing point guard in a 104-95 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, their fifth straight setback. An All-Star last season, Redd came in averaging 22.3 points per game, 14th in the NBA. His only single-digit games this season came in a pair of matchups with Kobe Bryant. But the sweet-shooting Redd never got untracked and was shut out until finally sinking a shot with 1:47 to go, when the outcome was already decided. He added another bucket for a season-low four points. "He just couldn't get it going and they didn't let him find a rhythm," Bucks coach Terry Porter said. Statistically, it was Redd's worst scoring output since March 11, 2003, versus San Antonio, when he played only 18 minutes. "I couldn't show my frustration, but they did their job tonight," Redd said. "They felt like if they keyed in on me, they could win the game." The Bucks need Redd's points because point guard Maurice Williams is giving them away nearly as fast at the defensive end. In this one, he went scoreless as he was lit up by Nick Van Exel, who sank six 3-pointers en route to a season-high 26 points. During Milwaukee's skid, the opposing guard being defended primarily by Williams has averaged 35 points, scoring no less than 27. Among those victimizing the second-year guard have been Allen Iverson, Mike Bibby and Kirk Hinrich, a trend that players and coaches agree has to come to an end. "It is definitely something we have got to address because it seems like it has been like that every night," Redd said. "We just haven't been getting out on the guards and have been giving up too many layups and open looks," Porter said. A native of Kenosha, Van Exel made many of his 3-pointers at opportune times. His first gave the Trail Blazers the lead for good, another extended the advantage to double digits and two more sealed the win down the stretch. Zach Randolph had 22 points and 11 rebounds for Portland, which improved to 5-0 when scoring 100 points and completed a 3-3 road trip. "We could have tanked it in and settled for our Christmas break at 2-4, but finishing up .500 sounded better," said Van Exel, who needed 27 tickets for family and friends. Mike James scored 22 points for the Bucks, who allowed the Trail Blazers to shoot 51 percent (38-of-75) and were outrebounded, 47-33. Portland took the lead for good at 20-18 on Van Exel's 3-pointer with 3:35 left in the first quarter. It widened a seven-point halftime lead to 59-47 on another 3-pointer by Van Exel at the 10:15 mark of the third quarter. Milwaukee trailed by 20 points late in the third quarter before closing the deficit to eight points in the final period. But Van Exel made 3-pointers 27 seconds apart to rebuild the lead to 98-84 with 1:30 to go.
