Game StoryORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- Steve Francis would not allow the Orlando Magic to collapse against the San Antonio Spurs for the second time in eight days. Francis scored 12 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter as the Magic beat the Spurs, 93-87, snapping a seven-game skid in the series. Former Spur Hedo Turkoglu added 16 points off the bench and Grant Hill chipped in 13 for Orlando, which blew a 12-point fourth-quarter lead in a 94-91 setback at San Antonio last Wednesday. In this one, Orlando held just a 78-76 lead before Francis converted a three-point play with 4:20 remaining. After Devin Brown countered with a bank shot, Orlando's Cuttino Mobley nailed a 3-pointer to trigger a 9-0 run. Francis scored four straight points before ending the burst by tossing an alley-oop pass to Tony Battie, who dunked to make it 90-78 with two minutes left. "I told Cuttino and Hedo that they did a good job of hitting big shots when we needed them," Francis said. "Tony did a great job the last four or five minutes of playing defense against Tim Duncan, and I think that was the difference in the game." "Some games Grant is going to close out, and Steve closed out today and that was beautiful," Mobley said. "You might have Hedo close out. But today it was Steve and he did a great job." Duncan scored 24 points but made just 2-of-6 free throws for San Antonio, which went 13-of-26 from the line. The Magic made 24-of-30 free throws. "Free throws are a killer," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "Free throws allow you to stay in a game, and they allow you to maintain leads and to make runs. We had those opportunities, but we shot so poorly that it really makes it tough for us." Orlando shot just 43 percent (33-of-77) but limited San Antonio to 39 percent (35-of-89). "We're playing pretty well right now and we still have a lot of things to clean up," Duncan said. "We didn't play them too well tonight. We made too many mistakes, missed too many free throws." "This was a good, solid win for us against just a terrific opponent," Magic coach Johnny Davis said. "Coming out of the San Antonio game last week we felt like we could compete against them and had a chance, actually, to win down there but could not close. Tonight we did a much better job of closing the game down and just had contributions up and down the roster the entire night."
