Game StoryMIAMI (Ticker) -- Shaquille O'Neal prevented the Miami Heat from hitting the road with sour tastes in their mouths. In their first game since having their franchise-record 14-game winning streak snapped, the Heat got a huge effort from their superstar center and rolled to a 102-94 triumph over the New York Knicks. O'Neal had 33 points and 18 rebounds as Miami (26-8) bounced back from a 98-96 loss to Seattle on Monday. Dwyane Wade added 21 points as the Heat improved to 14-4 at home this season and 20-2 against the Eastern Conference. "My thing has always been to never ever lose two in a row," O'Neal said. "Every team I've played on I've tried to instill that attitude in my teammates." "Shaq was overwhelming tonight and he helped us get back on track by getting deep and hitting key shots for us down the stretch," Heat guard Eddie Jones said. Miami kicks off a stretch of five road games in eight days beginning Friday in Portland. Stops in Seattle and Phoenix are included on the swing. "It's always good to get one like that after a tough loss, but especially when you're about to go on a very long road trip against very tough teams," Heat coach Stan Van Gundy said. "They played well and moved the ball around great," Knicks coach Lenny Wilkens said. "They were coming off as loss and needed this one badly." Former Knick Shandon Anderson had 12 points off the bench. "It's all about capturing something positive when you're about to go on the road and we not only accomplished that but rebuilt our confidence after a difficult game two days ago," Anderson said. "You have to have these getaway games and get back into a rhythm heading out west," Jones added. Stephon Marbury scored 28 points and Kurt Thomas added 23 for the Knicks (16-16), who fell to .500 for the first time since December 15. "We knew we had to come in and play an exceptional game to beat them," said Thomas, who scored nine in the fourth quarter to keep the Knicks in the game. "They're got a great team and a great bunch of guys in that locker room. They're very exciting." Wade capped an 11-4 burst that bridged the first and second quarter and gave the Heat with a 30-21 advantage. He had nine assists and is averaging 26.5 points over his last four games. "He exemplifies a good listener, but that's what all these guys are about," O'Neal said. "That's why we're able to bounce back because we have guys who are dedicated. We have a lot of poise." Miami led by as many as 16 points in the second quarter and held a 50-39 edge at the half. The Knicks, who had won four of their five previous meetings with the Heat, never got closer than the final margin in the second half.
