Game Story

TORONTO (Ticker) -- Chris Bosh is providing the consistency his coach is looking for. Bosh had 23 points and 13 rebounds as he outplayed Chris Webber and led the Toronto Raptors to a 96-93 victory over the Sacramento Kings, who had a four-game road winning streak snapped. After Bosh collected 25 points and 12 boards in Monday's win over Orlando, Mitchell said he would like to see more consistency from the second-year forward, who is now the face of the franchise following the trade of superstar Vince Carter. Bosh gave his coach just that as he made 11-of-16 shots and registered back-to-back 20-point games in his career. "He's coming through for us," Mitchell said. "For us to be successful, Chris has to continue to grow as a player. I think he understands that we are trying to run some things through him and get him the ball in situations that he's been successful in." Bosh had a pair of hoops in a 12-0 run that gave Toronto its largest lead at 68-50 late in the third quarter. He presented problems for Webber on both ends, as Webber made just 6-of-21 Shots and scored 13 points before fouling out. "It definitely builds my confidence because Chris is a really good player," Bosh said. "He's a crafty player but I was hitting my jump shot all night." Bosh got some help from swingmen Jalen Rose and Morris Peterson. Rose came off the bench to score 20 points and stabilize a shaky fourth quarter where the Raptors saw a 17-point lead shrink to 89-86 with three minutes to go. Peterson scored 19 points. "There've been games this year when I haven't played in the fourth quarter," said Rose, who has grumbled a bit about coming off the bench. "I made up my mind that I was going to the hoop, and luckily I was able to contribute." Raptors forward Eric Williams also shut down sharpshooter Peja Stojakovic, who scored 10 points on just 2-of-11 shooting. With Webber and Stojakovic struggling, the Kings turned to Mike Bibby, who scored a season-high 32 points. But Sacramento, which shoots over 80 percent from the line, undid their own comeback by missing 12 free throws. Bibby missed four and Stojakovic missed two. "We missed free throws and it was some of our better free throw shooters as well," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "We made a couple of runs, but we just didn't seem to have it." Rookie Rafael Araujo grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds and Rafer Alston handed out 10 assists for the Raptors, who took the lead for good by scoring the last nine points of the first half. Brad Miller had 14 points and a season-high 19 rebounds for the Kings.
