Game Story

ATLANTA (Ticker) -- The Chicago Bulls looked like they did when Michael Jordan still was around. Eddy Curry scored 19 points and rookie Chris Duhon added 14 and matched a season high with nine assists as the Bulls moved above .500 with a 107-82 rout of the Atlanta Hawks. Chicago (20-19) has not had a winning record this late in the season since the 1997-98 campaign, Jordan's final season with the franchise. "Not too long ago we were the other team," said Curry, who was 9-of-11 from the floor. "It's nice to be the aggressor. It's crazy it hasn't really hit us. We knew the record would take care of itself." Curry scored nine points in a 24-5 run over the final 7:23 of the first half, giving the Bulls a comfortable 58-36 cushion. Duhon capped the surge with one of his season-high four 3-pointers. "I'm getting more and more confidence," Duhon said. "The best thing about it is we got a win. We're in a good rhythm I just want to keep it going." Chicago kept the pressure on in the third quarter by outscoring Atlanta, 36-21, in the period. Curry connected on two of the Bulls five alley-oop dunks in the first three minutes of the period as Atlanta repeatedly failed to get back on defense. "We should have gotten back," Atlanta forward Al Harrington said. "That's our fault, shame on us." After three quarters, the Bulls had connected on 57 percent (34-of-60) of their shots, while the Hawks shot just 33 percent (26-of-80) in the game. Othella Harrington, whose two free throws gave the Bulls their biggest lead at 99-57 early in the fourth quarter, added 18 points off the bench. The Bulls held a 48-28 advantage in bench scoring. Antoine Walker scored nine of his 11 points in the first quarter to help the Hawks to a 24-23 lead. But he was shut down the rest of the way. "You're going to get blown out a few times every year," Walker said. "You just never want it to happen on your home floor." Al Harrington collected 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Hawks, who lost for the 11th time in 14 games. "Nobody had a good night," Al Harrington said. "I guess it was growing pains but we have to stop making excuses. We have to figure out how to put two straight good games together. It (stinks) to be a part of this (game not season)." This season the Bulls began the campaign 0-9, but they have turned things around by going 16-4 in their last 20 - including wins in 10 of their last 11. "We didn't think we were an 0-9 team when we were 0-9," Chicago coach Scott Skiles said. "It turned out we were right. No one got dejected. The players even commented that once we got one win we could get on a roll."
