Game StoryDALLAS (Ticker) -- Rookie Luol Deng and Eddy Curry put an end to six seasons of frustration for the Chicago Bulls against the Dallas Mavericks. Deng had season highs of 30 points and 11 rebounds and Curry scored 11 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter as the Bulls snapped a three-game losing streak with a 107-100 victory over the Mavericks. It was Chicago's first win over Dallas in 14 meetings dating to the 1997-98 season, when the Bulls, led by Michael Jordan, won the last of their six championships. The game remained close until Deng and Curry took over in the fourth quarter. After All-Star Dirk Nowitzki's dunk forged a 77-77 tie with 9:30 left, Curry converted a three-point play on the other end, sparking a 15-5 run over the next five minutes. "I think what happened today is that we got our energy back," Deng said. "I think or schedule has been so tight that we got a little tired. I just thought our energy was great, especially in the fourth quarter." Deng added five points during the spurt, which was capped by Curry's alley-oop layup from Kirk Hinrich that made it 92-82 with 4:20 remaining. "The guys realize that if I am in the right spot, sometimes the best pass is somewhere over the rim," Curry said. Jason Terry scored 10 of his 25 points in the final four minutes, but Kirk Hinrich, who hit just one of his first nine shots, kept the Mavericks at bay with six points down the stretch. "I felt like I was struggling to make shots early," said Hinrich, who finished with 12 points and six assists. "I just tried to do play a good floor game and do some little things. I was able to get a few to drop late, which really helped." "They hit tough shots," Terry said. Even though we hit some shots, they were hitting them right back at us. They didn't allow us to make that run that we were capable of making." Ben Gordon, who along with Deng are the only rookies to score 30 points in a game this season, scored 16 points in 28 minutes off the bench for the Bulls (23-22), who matched their win total from last season. "Last year we weren't a focused team," Hinrich said. "This year we are doing a lot of little things. We're going out executing game plans that the coaches draw up for us and just play with a lot more intensity." Nowitzki scored 19 of his 27 points in the first half for Dallas, which lost in coach Don Nelson's return. Nelson had missed the previous 10 games after undergoing shoulder surgery. Assistant Avery Johnson guided Dallas to a 7-3 record over that stretch. "It was great to have Nellie back," said Mavs forward Josh Howard, who had 16 points and 10 rebounds. "We kind of missed his presence. We'll continue to listen to (Johnson) and to coach Nelson."
