Game StoryTORONTO (Ticker) -- Late heroics by Jalen Rose and Donyell Marshall lifted the Toronto Raptors to rare success against the Los Angeles Lakers. Rose and Marshall combined to score the final 10 points as the Raptors posted a 108-102 victory over the Lakers. It was Toronto's first win against Los Angeles since December 28, 2001 and first home triumph over the Lakers since November 8, 1996. Scoring 12 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter, Rose hit two free throws with 2:17 left to trigger the 10-0 closing run. He added a layup 34 seconds later to tie the score at 102-102 and gave Toronto the lead for good with a jumper from just inside the 3-point arc with 1:02 remaining. "He's been playing great and he can do a lot of things," Lakers coach Frank Hamblen said of Rose. "He's really been on a roll lately." "I'm just happy the shots I was getting were good shots and guys were finding me in the fourth quarter for baskets when we needed them," Rose said. "My teammates have a lot of confidence in me but it was definitely a team win." Marshall, who had 19 points and nine rebounds off the bench, grabbed a clutch offensive board following a miss by Rose and hit the two ensuing free throws to give Toronto a four-point lead with 27 seconds remaining. The subject of trade rumors prior to Thursday's deadline, Marshall has averaged 15 points in five games since going scoreless in a 106-91 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on February 11. "Donyell is a very valuable player and today he showed why," Raptors forward Chris Bosh said. The Raptors took a 65-55 lead into halftime, marking the most points they have scored in a first half this season. They matched a franchise record with nine 3-pointers, including four by Marshall, over the first 24 minutes. "Any time you give up 65 points in the first half you know you're in for a long game," Lakers forward Lamar Odom said. Rafer Alston hit a 3-pointer with 6:55 left in the third quarter to give the Raptors an 80-65 advantage, but Chucky Atkins scored 11 points as the Lakers closed the period on a 20-6 run to pull within two points. Kobe Bryant scored five straight points before finding Slava Medvedenko, who capped a 10-2 run which gave Los Angeles a 94-92 lead with 5:42 left. Bryant scored 31 points and fell two assists and two rebounds shy of a triple-double for the Lakers, who had won nine of the previous 10 meetings with the Raptors. "They are a gutsy team," Bryant said. "They played well defensively and made plays when they needed to make them and got the win." Bryant, who scored just 10 points in the second half, missed a 25-foot jumper over Bosh with 53 seconds left that would have tied the game. "I just missed the shot," Bryant said. "(Bosh is) a long kid with long arms and he contested the jumper well." Bosh posted a double-double of 12 points and 15 rebounds for the Raptors, who eclipsed the 100-point plateau for a season-high fifth straight time. Toronto has gone 4-1 during that span. Atkins, who shot 4-of-5 from 3-point range, scored 22 points in Los Angeles' second straight defeat on the heels of its first three-game winning streak of the season. "We shouldn't have any excuses," Atkins said. "We're in the eighth spot (in the Western Conference) trying to make a playoff run. I hope at the end of the season we don't look back at this game and say that's a game we should have won."
