Game StoryORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- Steve Francis welcomed old friend Cuttino Mobley back here, then sent him off with a loss. Francis scored 29 points and had 10 assists to lead the Orlando Magic to a 114-111 victory over the Sacramento Kings. It marked the first meeting between the teams since their January 10 trade that sent Mobley to the Kings in exchange for Doug Christie and Michael Bradley. Francis, who played alongside Mobley in Houston for five seasons before both were shipped to Orlando last summer, expressed displeasure with the Mobley's loss in January. Speculation has arisen that Francis' recent on-court struggles reflect his feelings toward the trade. In his previous four games, Francis averaged 15.0 points on 19-of-52 (37 percent) shooting. Francis and Mobley helped the Magic to a 13-6 start but Orlando was just 10-13 entering the game since the trade. For Francis, this meeting was business as usual. "It was good. It's still going to be the same, regardless of whether I play for a team in Alaska and he plays for a team in Beijing," Francis said. "We're still going to be cool." "Steve's been in a little slump since the All-Star break," Magic center Tony Battie said. "I told him before the game, 'Go out there and get yourself out of your slump.' He nodded his head and went out there and did it." Francis, who started 0-of-6 and 0-of-7 from the floor in his previous two games, had seven assists in the first quarter and 12 points in the second to help Orlando to a 67-58 halftime lead. He scored eight points in the game's final 5:05 and seemingly put the contest out of reach with an emphatic dunk that gave the Magic a 114-105 advantage with 48 seconds left. "I just played, man, let the game come to me," Francis said. "For me to come out and play that way after two sub-par games helped get my teammates going. Whoever brings the ball up between me and Jameer (Nelson), we kind of feed off each other." Mobley and Mike Bibby hit back-to-back 3-pointers in a nine-second span to cut the deficit to 114-111 and they had a chance to tie in the final seconds. But Peja Stojakovic, who had missed the previous seven games with a strained right hamstring, missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer. "I don't know how much time was left on the clock when I got the ball," Stojakovic said. "Maybe an inch shorter and it might have gone in." Grant Hill and rookie Dwight Howard scored 20 points apiece with Howard leading a strong rebounding effort for the Magic with 16 boards. Fellow first-year player Nelson, starting his third straight game at point guard, matched a season high with 19 for Orlando, which snapped a three-game slide. "Dwight and Jameer definitely stepped up and played big," Francis said. "Jameer had a tough job in guarding Mike Bibby, one of the best shooters in the game. And Dwight did a great job on the boards and hit some big shots for us." Stojakovic scored 28 points and Bibby added 26 and 10 assists. Mobley chipped in 14 for the Kings, who fell to 2-3 on their current six-game road trip. "It was great to be back after three weeks of sitting down," Stojakovic said. "I was worried about my injury, but it felt good." Sacramento has dropped nine of 13 games and barely resembles the team that made it at least as far as the Western Conference semifinals each of the past four seasons. "If you want to go back to the summer, we lost Vlade (Divac), then traded Doug (Christie) and Chris (Webber)," Stojakovic said. "We have so many new guys, but still have the talent. We all understand it is going to take some time to regroup."
