Game StoryCLEVELAND (Ticker) -- The Indiana Pacers went cold in the second half. Luckily for the Cleveland Cavaliers, LeBron James did not. James scored 35 points and the Pacers made just nine baskets in the final 24 minutes as the Cavaliers posted a 98-86 victory. With the win, Cleveland (33-27) moved into a tie with Washington for fourth place in the Eastern Conference, which would give it home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. The Cavaliers have the third-best home record in the conference at 22-8. "We've got 20-some games left and it's about time that we wake up," said James, who made 12-of-23 shots and 10-of-11 free throws. "When he's shooting that way, nobody in the world can stop him," Cleveland coach Paul Silas said. Neither team had led by more than seven points when Anthony Johnson gave the Pacers their final lead, 70-67, with a three-point play with 2:35 left in the third period. Indiana did not make a basket in nearly 10 minutes, however, as the Cavs took control with a 15-4 run. "I like the swagger we got back defensively," Silas said. "I thought that was the reason that we won." James ignited the spurt with a 3-pointer and Drew Gooden added four of his 13 points before the end of the quarter as Cleveland took a 76-71 lead into the final period. James had four points and an assist as Cleveland pushed its lead to 82-74 with 7:39 remaining. The Pacers cut the deficit to 83-79 on a pair of free throws by Reggie Miller with just over five minutes left, but James hit a basket and three assists over the next three minutes to all but seal the victory. "The kid is a great player," said Indiana guard Stephen Jackson, who guarded James for most of the game. "He's definitely a great player in this league and he's having a great year." Miller scored 15 of his 29 points in the second half, when the Pacers shot 28 percent (9-of-33) and were held to just 33 points. "Reggie tried to carry us," said Jackson, who scored 13 on just 3-of-16 shooting. "But he needed a little help and we weren't able to help him tonight." Johnson contributed 17 points for Indiana, which lost for the second time in five games since All-Star Jermaine O'Neal was placed on the injured list. With O'Neal out, the Cavs were able to dominate inside, grabbing 21 offensive rebounds leading to 18 second-chance points. Zydrunas Ilgauskas led the effort with 16 points and 11 boards - eight offensive. "Our undoing tonight was that we gave up 21 offensive rebounds," Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said. "We have such a small margin for error (given our injuries)." The Cavs shot under 40 percent (19-of-48) in the first half, but James scored 18 points to keep Cleveland within striking distance, 53-50. "When they were struggling in the first half, (James) took the ball four or five times and just made spectacular, breathtaking plays, jumped over us and made difficult shots," Carlisle said. "That's what a great franchise-type player does. He was just too good tonight."
