Game StorySEATTLE (Ticker) -- Rashard Lewis wasn't sure he would play against the New York Knicks. Ray Allen is glad he did. Allen scored a season-high 40 points and Lewis added 30 as the Seattle SuperSonics won their fifth consecutive game, a 109-101 overtime triumph over the New York Knicks. Lewis left Thursday's game against Portland early with tendinitis in his left knee and was a gametime decision for Seattle (48-20), which avenged a 90-80 loss at New York 11 days ago and reduced its magic number to clinch a playoff spot to one. "After last night, I thought I wasn't even going to be playing tonight," Lewis said. "But I woke up this morning and had a whole different feeling. Being the captain, I can't be sitting on the sidelines being a cheerleader. I've got to be out there on the floor." After making only 1-of-16 3-pointers, the Knicks forced overtime when Tim Thomas hit from the arc with nine seconds left in regulation, tying the score, 95-95. Allen and Lewis scored all 14 of Seattle's points in the extra period. Allen buried his sixth 3-pointer with two minutes to go and Lewis followed with a wide-open 18-footer with 1:22 left for a 102-95 advantage. "I got a lot of good looks and we made the right plays down the stretch," Allen said. "They were hanging on. But we made the free throws we were supposed to make down the stretch. Thomas' shot was a heck of a shot to force overtime. But I thought we had control of the game." The SuperSonics have won two of their three overtime contests this season, while the Knicks are 4-2. "I told the guys in the huddle heading to overtime that we hadn't won a game like this all season," Seattle coach Nate McMillan said. "Let's get one." Despite shooting 27 percent (4-of-15) from the floor in the opening period, the Knicks went on a 28-8 run bridging the first two quarters for a 42-31 edge late in the first half. Stephon Marbury and Jamal Crawford combined for 15 points during the burst. Lewis sank a 3-pointer to put Seattle in front, 53-50, midway through the third quarter. But New York regained the lead when Mike Sweetney made four baskets in a 15-6 burst for a 65-59 cushion with 2:50 remaining in the period. Luke Ridnour scored 15 points and Reggie Evans grabbed 10 rebounds for Seattle, which won for the seventh time in eight outings and can clinch a playoff spot if Minnesota loses to New Jersey on Saturday. "We just want to keep playing," McMillan said. "We want to see that 'X' beside our name and take it one game at a time." Marbury scored 31 points, Thomas added 19 and Sweetney chipped in 12 and 10 rebounds for New York, which fell 4 1/2 games behind Philadelphia for the final playoff berth in the Eastern Conference. "We just didn't execute when we were supposed to," Marbury said. "We were going to the basket. But things weren't going our way." "We let the game get away from us in overtime," Knicks coach Herb Williams said. "This was a big one. The game was right there for us and a couple of possessions we had became blown possessions where we didn't get a real good shot."
