Game Story

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Marcus Fizer helped the Milwaukee Bucks record a rare victory. Fizer scored 10 of his 18 points in the final nine-plus minutes as the Bucks posted just their second win in 11 games, a 93-75 triumph over the Charlotte Bobcats. "I don't know if that was his best game, but Fizer stepped up big," Milwaukee coach Terry Porter said. "He can score and do some nice things, passing out of (the post). He was solid." Desmond Mason added 21 points and Michael Redd 17 to help the Bucks complete a four-game season sweep of the expansion Bobcats, who have lost seven straight games. "It's tough to beat teams 4-0," Porter said. "The other team always finds a way to win, but once we got the big lead in the second half, we didn't give in." Milwaukee trailed early, 15-4, but pulled within 18-17 after one quarter and kept the momentum going, outscoring Charlotte in the second period, 32-15. "They came out on fire, playing well," Redd said of the Bobcats. "But we knew we'd beat this team. We have that confidence at home." The Bobcats pulled within 67-61 early in the fourth quarter but the Bucks closed the game on a 26-14 run, thanks largely to Fizer, who made 8-of-15 shots off the bench. "Fizer played real well and stepped up big," Redd said. "So did (Anthony) Goldwire and Toni (Kukoc), all the guys off the bench." Goldwire nailed two 3-pointers during the Bucks' game-ending run and Kukoc had a season-high nine assists, five in the fourth quarter. Primoz Brezec recorded his 15th double-double of the season with 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Bobcats, who shot just 32 percent (29-of-90), including just 1-of-13 from the arc. "You can't shoot 32 percent and win," Charlotte coach Bernie Bickerstaff said. "We stopped sharing the basketball. We weren't recognizing what was good for the team. We got amnesia. "I'm going to refrain from making any comment about what I said at halftime. You don't want to hear it. It wasn't appropriate for families." Rookie of the Year candidate Emeka Okafor posted his 43rd double-double of the season with 11 points and 14 rebounds for Charlotte. "We came to within (six) and I thought that we made a great run," Okafor said. "We just disappeared at the end." Charlotte scored a season-low 33 first-half points. "During the first quarter, we were sharing the basketball and then we went individual," Bickerstaff said. "We started taking long jump shots, missing the rim." Redd made one 3-pointer to tie Glenn Robinson for second place in Bucks history with 494. Ray Allen is the franchise leader with 1,051. Milwaukee's Joe Smith left the game in the third quarter with a lacerated left pinkie. The cut required four stitches to close. Smith will not travel with the team to Cleveland for Saturday's game vs. the Cavaliers.
