Game StoryDENVER (Ticker) -- With Andre Miller's hand on the throttle, nothing can slow the Denver Nuggets. Miller had six of his season-high 17 assists in a breakneck first quarter as the Nuggets raced to their seventh straight win, a 121-105 victory over the shorthanded Seattle SuperSonics. Carmelo Anthony scored 24 points and Earl Boykins added 23 off the bench for the Nuggets, who never trailed, shot 57 percent (40-of-70) from the field and had six players in double figures. Denver has won 13 of 14 and 21 of 23, losing only to league-leading Phoenix during that span. It improved to a remarkable 28-6 under George Karl, including 15-1 at home. Miller has been a big reason why. An erratic floor leader earlier this season, he has flourished in Karl's up-tempo attack. Since the coaching change, he has nine games of double-digit assists, including 32 in the last two. "Everybody is getting into a comfort zone knowing that if you cut or do something good, then Andre has a good chance of finding you," Karl said. "All of the easy baskets he gets us is incredible." "I'm just finding guys in the right spot," said Miller, who had just five double-digit assist games until Karl took over. "Our confidence level is high right now. It has taken an entire team effort since the All-Star break to get to this point." In the first quarter, Miller was in the middle of Denver's crisp offense. The Nuggets, who salvaged a season series split with Seattle, shot a blistering 74 percent (14-of-19) and had 12 assists as they sped to a 41-25 lead. DerMarr Johnson scored 11 of his 14 points in the quarter, making three 3-pointers. Kenyon Martin added 10 of his 14, making 4-of-4 shots. "We got off to a great start," Karl said. "that gave us the confidence to win the game. We're playing at the pace we want to play at." "The reason we ended up losing the game was because we dug ourselves a big hole early on," said Seattle guard Ray Allen, who scored 32 points. The Nuggets built the lead to 23 points in the second period before coasting a bit. The SuperSonics closed to 68-54 at halftime and 97-88 after three periods but got no closer as Boykins helped rebuild the lead to 112-94 midway through the final quarter. Boykins was 8-for-11 from the field after shooting 4-for-30 over the previous three games. "I try to attack teams in different ways," said Boykins, a candidate for the Sixth Man Award. "Coach just asks me to push the ball every opportunity. When you are winning, it still feels good, even though you're slipping." Nene scored 16 points, Miller added 14 and Marcus Camby nine with 13 rebounds for the Nuggets (45-31), who reduced their magic number for clinching a Western Conference playoff berth to one. Ronald Murray scored 20 points for Seattle (50-26), which has lost a season-high four in a row and still needs one win to wrap up the Northwest Division. "I thought we came out and played hard," Seattle coach Nate McMillan said. "The game plan was to have them shoot from the perimeter and they were able to knock down their shots and get easy baskets in transition." The Sonics again were missing four of their top nine players in All-Star Rashard Lewis, Vladimir Radmanovic, Antonio Daniels and Danny Fortson. "I don't know what it is but something good is going to come out of the injuries," Allen said. "It did early in the season, something good is still going to come of it."
